New Member Introductions

Hey, I’m new to soft washing and using chemicals. I’ve previously worked for a small window cleaning business that did some pressure washing for non-residential buildings and parking lots. I’m starting my own business here in elizabethton tn and surrounding areas, and found this forum looking into preventing vegitation damage. I want to provide the safest and best experience to my customers as possible with as little to no damage to customer property. I will be working by myself for the foreseeable future and would greatly appreciate any tips and information. I’m planning on doing gutter cleaning and whitening as well if there’s any tips or information about that would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and Information in advanced!

Howdy y’all! Michael here, owner of Facilitec SW based in Texas. We run a
commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning and pressure washing company, mostly
working with restaurants, schools, hospitals, and multi-location facility
groups. Hood systems and NFPA 96 compliance work make up the bulk of our
day to day.

Spent a fair amount of time reading threads here before joining there’s
solid content on chemistry, truck buildouts, and the operator-side topics
(pricing, labor, dealing with accounts) that’s hard to find anywhere else.
Figured it was time to stop lurking and actually introduce myself.

Looking forward to learning from people who’ve been at this longer than me,
and contributing where I can especially on the KEC & hood cleaning
side of the trade. If anyone’s got specific questions about hood work,
deferred-service recovery cleans, fire marshal interactions or just the
differences between commercial KEC and general PW, happy to talk anytime.

Glad to be here.

Hi everyone,

I’m Tim from Australia. I’m a qualified motor mechanic with a background in automotive spare parts, workshop management, outdoor power equipment, small engines, and pressure cleaning equipment.

I’ve joined to learn from others in the industry and contribute where I can, particularly around equipment setup, nozzle sizing, hose loss, flow, and pressure.

Looking forward to being part of the community.

Hi tim, and welcome to the forum. We have had several aussies and kiwis on the forum over the years. Our “murican” use of the imperial system may get lost in translation from time to time for you. Look forward to seeing your mechanical knowledge helping members troubleshoot issues.

On a side note, most of the people overseas seem to have more difficulty getting tools, equipment, and chemicals than we do in the U.S. Also note that your country may utilize a different building code and you may need to do things differently than we do.

Good luck to you.

Thanks for the welcome, mate

Yes, the imperial system can definitely take a bit of translating from our side too. We use a mix here — pressure is often still talked about in PSI, but flow is commonly L/min, and hose lengths are usually metres.

I’m looking forward to learning how others approach things overseas. Always interesting seeing the differences in equipment, methods, and regulations between markets.
