New Member Introductions

Welcome aboard. Quick question if you don’t mind, do you have prior expereince or just learning what you can online and jumping into the abyss hah? I’m new aswell and am just putting things together/learning.

Hey Jason! I have 0 experience with anything in this field lol. I’ve always been able to pick things up quickly. I’ve been watching videos / guides / reading like it’s a job lol. I’m very much always in the Abyss haha.

Haha! Thats awesome and impressive you are taking the plunge like that. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you land your first client? Im not far off you expereince wise, haha. Trying to get the gusto to take that plunge too.

Hi, I’m Jeremy from South Carolina, and I’m new to pressure washing. I bought a Mi-T-M Work Pro Series 3200psi 2.4gpm for $200 during COVID and just fired it up for the first time today. While I know it might be underpowered for some tasks, I’m determined to make the most of it, learn the ropes, and save up for an upgrade. I work full-time, so I’ll be tackling jobs on weekends. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me!

Where is SC?

HHI. Willing to make the trip if you ever need any weekend help! You’re one of the reasons I decided to sign up on here.

Surface cleaner is on a layaway plan along with a new machine.

Don’t offer, may take you up on it someday, lol

Oops, it looks like I missed this step and already posted. I hope you all can forgive me:) Hi, everyone; I’m Levi Unruh, the owner of Asnew Exterior Cleaning. I’m from Washington State and have been in business for around two years now. I’ve spent a good amount of that time on this forum learning as much as I possibly can, and I really can’t express my gratitude for all the sticky situations you all have saved me from! I’ve just been lurking in the background until recently when I decided to make an account and get more involved. As far as my equipment, I’ve got an f350 with a skid that has a 12v softwash system and an 8gpm with a flowpro. I plan to add a 4gpm soon, as I would like to hire a technician to help the rest of the summer, and having the extra firepower would be amazing! I’m very excited to see what the future holds for Asnew and the industry. Hopefully, I’ll be here for many years to come to watch it all play out! Thanks again for all the time and knowledge that is selflessly shared on here daily! It has helped me endlessly, and I hope to do my little part in contributing whenever I can!

Wow. Sounds like you’re doing great for 2 years. How long did it take to pick up during year 1? Thanks.

Thanks. It’s been quite a journey! The first year started slow, as expected, but I pushed Facebook ads hard and began to get some leads in the first few months, but it was definitely a slow process. I would say by the middle of the season in the first year, word had gotten out a bit, and I had a little more money for advertising, so it started to really pick up.

Hello all! My name is Justin. I run an Auto Detailing, and pressure washing business here in Charleston, SC called Attention2Detailing. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Hello everyone. Brand new Pressure Washing business in starting next week in Tampa, FL. Our company name is Happy Cat Services. I’ve been working on setting the company up for almost 2 months now and I feel like we’re ready to go, just waiting for our rig to be finished. I’ve been recommended to this site for troubleshooting equipment and learning about the business, and I’m looking forward to learning from everyone here and eventually becoming a resource that order can reach out to as well. If anyone’s interested, feel free to check out our website at www.happycatservices.com!

Welcome! With or without VPN, your website is not working for me.

Wow lol, thanks for pointing that out to me. I put the old website rather than the new. Our website is www.happycatservices.com. So glad you took the time to mention that now or it would have been wrong for eternity.

Hello all! My name is Craig, I have been lurking on this site for a few years while I have been slooolwy but surely piecing things together. I want to say thank you to all, I have learned so much from this site.

Anyway, I am located in Houston Texas. I got my LLC setup last year, operating under Wildly Productive, and I am putting the finishing touches on my skid build.

I purchased some equipment last year from a local pressure washer that upgraded his setup. GX390 w/4 GPM Cat pump, 12v system, reels, tanks, etc.

I just created a new account on this site under my business name. I was formerly “Stinky Pete”, long story….

Looking forward to continuing to learn from yall. Thanks again.

As requested by @DisplacedTexan, here is my story:

Like many others, my life was significantly impacted by covid. My job required frequent travel, 3-4 days a week for most weeks of the month. When everything shut down, travel stopped, and my work gradually disappeared. During that time, my wife and I bought our first home and were expecting our first child. It felt like the right time to step back from constant travel, re-evaluate my priorities, and be more present at home with our growing family.

We were very fortunate to be in a solid financial position allowing us to live comfortably on one salary. This enabled me to stay home with our daughter during her first year of life (spoiler alert: almost four years later, I’m still predominantly a stay-at-home dad, and we’ve added a little boy to the mix). My wife worked irregular hours in the ER, so I wanted to find a job that I could do on “my time” and would give me the flexibility I needed with her schedule. I’ve always been mechanically inclined so to stay occupied, I began flipping small engines and lawn equipment as a hobby while the kids napped. This hobby led me to acquire various pressure washer parts and engines.

As I researched brands and quality replacement parts and started building machines, I saw an opportunity to transition from repairing pressure washers to running a pressure washing business. I immersed myself in learning everything about the industry, which initially led to analysis paralysis. Eventually, I figured out the essentials needed to start a legitimate business. I invested in some marketing materials, built a website, and set up a Google My Business profile. By last May, I was ready to launch, but I didn’t have any customers.

To gain experience and build a portfolio, I did a few jobs for friends, allowing them to pay what they felt was fair in exchange for testing my workflow, getting before-and-after photos, and reviews. Despite my efforts, my website wasn’t attracting much traffic. Over the winter, I delved into SEO and learned how to optimize my site for better search rankings. Although I’m no professional, my efforts have seemingly paid off. As of this past spring, my website has generated leads almost daily from neighborhoods and customers I have no previous connection with, so I’ll count that as a win. I’ve also achieved a few small milestones I set for myself at the end of last year, which feels gratifying.

During this time, as mentioned earlier, we added another child to our family, and my wife has since transitioned to a new role that gives me more time during the week to focus on the business. The current plan is to continue growing the business slowly but get to a point where, once both kids are in school, I will have jobs lined up most days of the week.

Why don’t you just change the name of the “Stinky Pete” login to the new one? If you can’t do it, I’m happy to do it for you.
