New Member Introductions

Hello everyone,
I’ve been on here reading for a short time and appreciate the wealth of free knowledge that is shared. I have a small amount of pressure washing experience between personal work and helping a small company for a summer. I plan to have everything ready to go part time here soon. I’m shooting for just residential houses and flat work. I work full time as a fireman so my schedule works out well for a part time business. I’m located in West Virginia. I have a few questions about accessories to buy but I’ll post them elsewhere to not de-rail the thread.

Welcome @Mbeall777 What’s your name and where are you operating? It’s not in your profile.

Hello everyone! My name is Dustin and I am 22 years old, originally from Georgia, currently active duty Air Force as a tower air traffic controller stationed in Missouri near Kansas City. I have 2 years left and want to start pressure washing part time now so I have a head start when I go full time once I’m out. People think I’m crazy for wanting to leave ATC and start PW but I have a passion for customer interaction, a little but of manual labour, and being my own boss! I joined this forum officially about a month after reading days on end. So much knowledge on here and I’m lucky to have stumbled across a page full of such kind people wanting to help others in their trade weather they are a veteran or a new and eager entrepreneur like myself. I started strong and correctly. I filed with the state, got a separate buisness number for my area, insurance, and city buisness licenses for my areas. I have basic equipment that fits in the bed of my truck for house washing, wood washing, and concrete washing. I put all my earnings, i reinvest back into the business. I’ve handed out 1,000 plus door hanger flyers, truck magnet, Social media pages and advertising. Website done but not live yet! I want to grow this buisness and grow to have a plumbed rig on a flatbed like most of you veterans on here. I want to do it right. Again thank you for all the knowledge from everyone! Lookin forward to the future with y’all.

Hello everybody. My name is Don Markovich. I appreciate all of your help and input in advance. Alex from WCR said this is THE BEST place to learn. I am looking to add some simple soft washing to my existing window and gutter cleaning business–Bren-Mark Window Cleaning. We cover all of Northwest Indiana. Been in business for 20+ years now. In the past I had considered incorporating power washing into our service mix but felt it required a lot of training to be able to do it competently. Employee turnover is a big issue and I just didn’t feel comfortable investing the time and money into training someone that may leave just as we are beginning to build that business. However soft washing seems fairly straightforward and would be something a lot of our guys could handle so turnover wouldn’t be as much of an issue. In addition, I also own a company that specializes in gutter guard installation, simple repairs, heat cable installation…basically anything that would apply to existing gutters. This company is called Gutter Gators. We don’t install new gutters. We just work on EXISTING gutters. Reason being: the competition with new gutter installation is fierce and I don’t want to play the "low price gets the job’ game so I sub it out to a great company that does excellent work. So we have a nice niche working. Occasionally we do run across roofs that could use a good washing before we install any gutter guards. Dirty roofs can end up covering the guards prematurely. Micro-mesh guards are especially prone to this. Incorporating roof washing along with gutter guard install would make sense, especially to the customer. So what I really need is “Soft washing for Dummies” because I am completely clueless. Hopefully you all can point a guy in the right direction. Thank you for reading this rambling introduction.

Hello all.
Thanks to the moderators and all of you for contributing to this board. I did quite a bit of washing years ago, doing everything from cedar roofs to fleets and have been out of the industry for quite a while. I am going to get back into it now and find it exciting to catch up on the equipment, techniques and chemicals that may have changed the past 10 yrs or so.
I’ll be spending some time perusing through some of the info on here and may post a question or two.
Stay healthy and thanks again from western Ky!

HI and welcome to the darkside! I am sure your expertise will be gladly received regarding gutters. I not a PW so I wouldn’t be able to answer your questions, but feel free to post a question in the topic. I am sure one of the lovely fellers on here would be by to assist in a jif  Quite a few people here downstream, softwash, and some upstream (those guys are a little odd :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:)

Hi and welcome to the forum. Your expertise in the area will help the padawans like me, There are a few people on here that have been PW since moby ■■■■ was a minnow, so they may be able to help you. Unfortunately, it appears from my reading that some techniques and tools have changed since you last PW. Not much really, it is still water and chems and hoses. See ya around.

Hello, hope everyone is staying healthy during these trying times. I have read a few topics and found this site to be very informative. I am planning on starting a PW business in eastern PA. I am in the process of starting to build my trailer. I have enclosed trailers from a previous business I decided to close down. I have a 7x12 and a 7x14. I think I am going to use the 7x14. I plan on having a 8 gal cold pressurwasher, softwash system and also set up to do window cleaning. I am still working on exact setup and equipment. I look forward to hearing any feedback on the above. I also am working on company name and logo for branding and marketing. Hopefully we all come out the other side of this pandemic. Sending prayers, stay safe and hope to chat with many of you in the near future.

Welcome to this side of the forum. Are you intending to do residential only? Roofs? Flatwork?

Residential exterior. Spray on detergent and spray off. At least that’s how some of the guys around here describe it. I hear roofs are high workers comp
but I haven’t looked into it yet. We’ll move on to more complex things as we learn.

Yo folks. I’m in the north east texas area, and brand spanking new to the industry.

Currently been working with a commercial window cleaner as a side gig, and I think I’ll probably be laid off from my primary source of income soon. Seems like a perfect time to stop subcontracting our pressurewashing and start doing it ourselves. I’m the more technical minded of us, so here I am learning how to do the thing lol

I was gifted a ts 2021 pump a couple years ago. Still has the tags and plugs in it. Found me a gx390 for a steal of a deal used…and so it begins.

Whereabouts in NE Texas?

Texarkana area. Life behind the piney curtain. Also known as Pollenville, USA right now.

Loaded up and truckin

Interesting tidbit, I grew up in atlanta texas (they’re thirsty in atlanta, there’s beer in texarkana)

I feel ya man. Pollen has got me going crazy right about now. I went to the chiropractor the other day and he adjusted my sinuses and holy smokes did that make a difference.

I haven’t spent much time behind the pine curtain but I have a few friends over in Nacogdoches. It’s pretty out that way. I grew up in North Texas and about all you see out there is mesas and mesquite. Still beautiful to me.

How does that work? I didn’t even know that was a thing!

Neither did I. I’ve always gone to chiropractors that use the manual method of twisting me up like a pretzel and popping all of my joints. This new doc uses some sort of high speed low pressure “gun” to put everything back in place. It’s incredible. I’ve been 5 times in the last two weeks and I haven’t felt this good in years. He put the gun on my eyebrows, orbital bone, corner of my jaw and the side of my nose. I’ve broken my nose a couple times from sports and whatnot and when he pushed that thing over I felt my entire nose and sinus system relax immediately. I went from snotting like a two year old to dry as a bone on 30 seconds. He made me a believer.
