Hey welcome! @edsel747 is good people. We’ve talked quite a bit. Can’t wait to see you continue to succeed!
Welcome to the forum, wealth of info on here. Good to see your upgrades, much success!
Watsup PWR. Nevada guy. Sorta new here. I’ve been in the FB groups for a little over 6 months now and have scoured these forums for a month or 2 and decided it was time to finally join up officially. I’ve been cleaning windows part time on my own for about a year now and plan on launching full time for 2021 bringing PW in to the mix. I’m currently putting together a smaller single axle rig. So far I’ve got a 4500psi/8GPM Hot/Cold DD machine(good or bad I haven’t figured that out yet), 1-200ft of pressure hose no reels or surface cleaners yet but that’ll come when needed. I’ll do my best to not ask the same questions hundreds of other already have. No promises though I’ve also been checking off @TexasPressureWashing beginners list little by little
Brian Douglas here glad to part of the site. new less than 1 yr in cleaning laid off oilfield hand trying to pay bills…We are in Cypress, TX
LOL, you need a bigger trailer already. Welcome
yeah that thing got real small real fast
The guy that sold you that machine with those specs needs one of @Hotshot pumpkin pies to the face and a wedgie, preferably at the same time, orchestrated to perfection.
Lol, it’s neither 4800 psi or 8 gpm
Interesting so I thought the same thing when I looked up the unit but I saw the unloader. So the rating is just capability not actual operating rate?
That’s the max rating for that unloader. While you’ve got it off, ditch all that galvy
This photo confuses me. Can you take a picture showing the unloader placement?
welcome aboard!
Hello. I live in Pensacola, Fl. I’ve been wanting to start a PW business for a while. Finally decided to go for it. I wrote a small bio on my profile if anyone is interested. I’m sure I will have lots of questions, and will need feedback, thanks for the add.
Ronda
Welcome
Thanks! I’m so glad I found this forum. So much great information.
Hi,
New guy here located in North Texas/DFW. I’m currently in the research/planning stage of hopefully an eventual real business. I work fulltime in aerospace and I am in the final semester of graduate school with a baby on the way. My plan is to hopefully have my first customer in summer/fall 2021 barring the possibility of a layoff at my current company. The future of the facility I work for currently is uncertain.
I’m appreciative of all of the hard work put into the resources on this site. I have spent many hours before I even had an account reading and researching. I feel fairly up to speed on the basics but have many gaps in knowledge and no training or practical experience. This is not a traditional trade with a formal education or governing body and without the help of contributors on this site it would be very hard to gain the knowledge to make this a legitimate profession. My assumption is that many of my potential customers (residential) have not solicited such services before and I want their first interaction to be professional and reflect the industry positively. I want to build repeat customers in this industry for all not only myself. This site provides me with the knowledge I need to make it a positive experience and not a damaging one.
Welcome!
Are you thinking of doing this part or full time?
I would love for it to become a full time gig someday but it would currently be started up as part time.
I am somewhat confused, your finishing grad school but want to start a PT pressure washing business?
I have no idea who you are, your life experiences, or your background or current financial situation, so it is hard to say what is right.
My take, PW is a hobby that might make you some side loot, but your focus should be on your primary income until you are sufficiently settled to dabble in other interests. You put a large investment into that education and not to use it to it’s fullest potential is wasteful, unless you took something like underwater basket weaving for a major then I am all about getting into PW. Don’t get me wrong, having a secondary viable income stream is very rewarding, both financially and mentally. Your primary job will seem less stressful if you have a FU I got another gig I can do tomorrow, ace in the hole. Then when you retire or take a payout from your company, you just make a smooth transition to the PW lifestyle of croc rocking short wearing, shirt untucked, work 5 hours a day, long haired hippy life.
That always seems like a tough time to start in my opinion. Might be best to research and save $$$ through 2021, and focus on starting up in the spring. I know Texas isn’t particularly brutal all winter long, but springtime is such a perfect time to get clients. Most reputable companies have their schedule slammed from April-June, and it’s a great time for a new business to pick up what the others couldn’t schedule. By summer, the word of mouth referrals should be enough to keep you going through the fall if you’re doing a fantastic job.
