Welcome to the forums, glad to hear another person gave themself a headache from reading so much. You will still need to check in with all the jedi washers from time to time but you’ll be pretty sure what needs done. I’m still learning too, so don’t be afraid to ask some questions. See if you ask a question on the forum on something I am thinking about doing, then I get all your knowledge without asking myself.

I am researching for a job I am bidding on but was a referral so I don’t think he is getting other bids. Had a failed homeowner pressure wash job on oxidized gray siding. Streak marks everywhere. I am pretty set on trying downstreaming Cleansol BC. From what I have read and seen in some videos, it can work great. Worst thing is that I am going to need to brush a lot. Keep the fingers cross. More worrysome on my part is his deck. He has a failing top coat of stain from 3 years ago. Tops are all shot but the vertical pieces are all pretty good which is typical of my homeowner’s deck experience. Have been reading a lot on it. Going to recommend stripping (NOH/POH) and Brightening (OX). I would just prefer to buy the powders and mix myself. There are some ratios on this site. Blessings! Any pointers appreciated. Don’t know where to upload photos. Thinking of starting a thread for the deck.

Welcome Logan!

Not necessarily by choice. 1) I don’t want to turn down the work. Not living up to the phrase “Exterior Soloutions” if I do. 2) He was referred by my pastor whose house I washed. 3) He is a realtor and could potentially be a referral source.

Hey y’all. I’m Wade. Just started my pw business and wanted to introduce myself.
I’m a country singer from Nashville, TN. I’m just trying to stay self-employed until live music comes back.
My first job was “cleaning” a set of cedar chairs, a table, and a matching swing set all extremely well built by Mennonites and it’s got sentimental value. It was washed, sanded, and sealed with like 5 coats of poly or something About 10 years ago. Needless to say I’ve had my hind-end handed to me.
It’s turned into three days of a learning curve. I bought some Valspar Wood Cleaner from Lowe’s that seems to be cutting it. I’m finally getting the cleaning done today. I will be applying an oil to seal it this time. Anyway I just wanted to let you all get a good laugh and say hello.

If ya want to hear music ( hope this isn’t breaking rules) my name is Wade Sapp.

Welcome Wade. I’ve had a few of those “what was I thinking?” jobs myself. Everybody had or will. Good luck with it.

Welcome to the forum. Stripping wood can be challenging. Looks like you’re getting there though.

We have a couple guys from our small town in IL that also play music in Nashville. Well, I should actually say one since the other doesn’t live there. I think he just goes there to record so doesn’t really have any major ties to Nashville. He originally thought about moving there but decided against it. One plays at Tootsie’s a few nights a week. Jake Maurer is the one who lives there. The other is The Joe Stamm Band.

Hello. I found this forum while googling research in this business side of PW. I have always had an interest in PW, but never got around to it. Now that I was laid off due to Covid, I felt it was time to do something that really interested me and that could also make me some income to help pay bills. I just ordered my PW equipment a few days ago, and anxiously awaiting for its arrival. This is such a great and helpful forum. Thank you for this. Side note, from reading a lot of the posts, I find the jokes here hilarious as well lol.

Welcome. I think we are all seeing an increase in new competition. I have like 5 new competitors in my area. Between COVID and a factory shutting down here, I think my little area might become the PW capitol of the world. Good luck to you in your new venture.

My name is Austin, I live in central FL and have taken the leap to start my pressure washing & landscaping business/ career. I am very eager to be on my own and learn everything I can about this industry. I have a small set up, 3100psi 2.5gpm Troy-Built w/ downstream injection. its nothing more than a starter set up until I can purchase a more professional grade machine. I thoroughly enjoy the process of cleaning and seeing the difference in a job well done. I am mainly sticking to basic driveway cleaning/ patios/ house washing etc. and hopefully roofs in the near future! I have a million and one questions and love reading all the helpful tips and tricks the great people of this forum provide!

Hey guys, been soaking up all I can since I found you guys.
I’m Thom, in the Tacoma, WA area. I’m a software engineer making the leap to this business as soon as I finish my build and get it all working. Going straight out of the gate w/ 8.5 hot in the back of my truck. Still up in the air, but my gut is telling me my goal is as much commercial as soon as possible. I’ve ran a couple of other businesses and think I can hit the ground running in the local business owner community.

If there’s anyone in the Seattle/Tacoma area feel free to shoot me a message, I’d love to have some allies here! Thanks for having me around here.

Want to start buisness in my area live in east tn

Hello to all members of PWR! I’m in the midst of starting a PW business in Northeast Georgia after deciding it’s too early to retire from a long retail career that saw myself go from starting positions to upper management with fortune 100 companies. I’m taking this experience along with my Property Investment/management LLC to slowly, 60-90 days open my business. I’ve used many discussions on this site to make decisions or at least consider in my decisions being made. I’m using an enclosed cargo trailer as my base of operations while setting up this system myself, I’m also building my marketing plan myself as in logo development, website domain(s) and design, branding for kickoff and social medial aspects to include all the latest along with SEO’s. I’ve made a lot of initial purchases sparing little expense as far as a small startup is concerned, but still have not pulled the trigger on my unit. I have some great vendors in this area and will be utilizing their input also, thinking 3500-PSI/5.5 or 8GPM full skid hot water unit. I’m looking mainly at residential, maybe some commercial services but staying away from roofs right now (bones break easily)! I’ve decided along with my website to keep my scheduling, quoting, invoicing and payments systems digitally integrated. So, the long of it is, I’m going to keep utilizing this site as an invaluable resource to hopefully make good decisions and thankfully in a position that I don’t have to feed a family based on the mistakes I do make. Here’s to all of you and the information you so freely give, that the corporate world would never do for their competitors or industry! Happy Washing!
