@MuscleMyHustle no worries man, I knew you were just being funny. I’m just glad I don’t need their kind of water supply and can get by with my 325! Ha!

@Hotshot Sean next is to start laying everything out and start loading the trailer. I’m not sure, but my bank account sure feels like I’m going all out!

Man nobody wants to go shoot 1,500 gallons a night. Long night last night. I’m always hoping the hydrant I’m working off of takes more than 4 minutes to fill up a truck. NOPE…it NEVER happens. Back to work

Dude, I ran my tank dry a few times this last year and it would take me 20-30 mins depending on the house to refill. And that was just 125 gallons! No hydrants though. Maybe I need to look into that.

Yup, it takes over a hour for a fill up if I have a truck leaving that needs to fill up at the house. All the trucks have mobile hydrant meters and 1-1/2" jumper hoses. Most hydrants around here run about 130psi which translates to about 150 gallons a minute through the “little” hoses we use. Watching these trucks squat a inch and half in under 5 minutes impresses the hell out of me.

Only bad thing about hydrant filling is the contaminated junk that comes out of them, So have a damn good filter before those machines if you decide to take a wack @ it . Other than that it’s awesome.
Good Morning @dperez

How’s our grumpy, wumpy truck washer this morning?

Thanks for asking but I never had a morning I slept straight through it lol

We just flush them good at the fire department until it runs clear…But yes, I’d definitely have a good filter if I was running my PW off them! I’ve seen some nasty stuff come out of hydrants.

I put raptor liner in all my trucks holds up great.

Good to know man, thanks!

@Hotshot as a newbie to pw world I cant add anything to your statement but as a utility dept worker ie water dept. When we have to fill our vactor trucks we flush hydrants for several minutes before we hook up our trucks

Well as someone who appreciates clean drinking water and the lack of cholera and typhoid, thanks for the work you do! But yeah I’ve seen some crazy sediment and rust come out of hydrants.

@Greenman Thank you. And as have I. I’ve cut out 6in waterline that had at most 1.5in flow channels because of buildup. 4in lines that you couldnt fit a pencil in.

@T_Rudkin Hey Thomas, why would there be a need to dechlorinate doing a line flush? I’ve seen diffusers with provisions for tablets

I understand there being chloramines present and all but I didn’t realize the amount would warrant the need for it to be neutralized with just releasing the water. I just read this online…Allows water utilities to meet regulations for residual chlorine concentration in released water. Enables contractors to quickly flush highly concentrated chlorinated water in new construction situations. Helps meet EPA, CWA and SDWA legislation for released water entering receiving streams.*

Correct during "new construction we end up doing a “burn” on all new water lines. That water is unsafe to be discharged into waters of the state. So we dechlorinate.

Thank you

A couple things done this weekend. Got my toolbox and tank mounted, and I think I’ve got a good idea on laying everything else out. Spent pretty much all day Saturday just looking at everything trying to get a game plan together on layout. I thought I would have plenty of room, but it’s going away quickly! Finally made some cardboard templates so I could get a visual of where everything would be as far as floor space is concerned. Not as much room as I thought I’d have! Mounting some LED’s inside tomorrow hopefully and then equipment starts going in.
