New 5x8 Trailer Build

The man is building a flipping trailer. Leave him be or hemp him spec out the trailer. After a day or two pulling it he will get a truck. Ou’ve seen pics on here of bungie cords holding ladders, people washing with ball valves and guys opening hydrants without a hydrant wrench. Those are more unsafe than pulling a trailer with a prius. Leave it be. Please

A flipping trailer… That’s kind of funny

I don’t think anyone was really trying to slight the guy. There’s a lot of good info here. Toyota’s a fantastic company, brakes are a good idea no matter what you’re hauling it with, and @jzbreeland is an analytical guy who’s doing a ton of research if you see many of his posts. I’m glad he’s here.

Let’s save the moxie for the future notsoawesomewash1’s… there will be more. Lol

Wow, so much negativity.
I am a new guy but did not wish to wade though the dissing this poster received. Thought this forum was better than that. Shucks.

puts on “U.N. Neutral Observer” hat

Wasn’t so much negativity and dissing, as it was crossed wires and slight panty bunching.

Some people made jokes about the prius’s towing capability, and a couple gave sincere advise about it. The op got a little rustled, and described it all as ‘hate’, although not meant in the literal sense. Some of the people who gave sincere advise then got a little rustled about their advise being called ‘hate’. Tomatoes were thrown.

No big whoop.

That sums it up. @DelMarProWash for all the incidents like this there’s 20 posts that are super helpful and good natured.

All the good drama is apparently at the UAMCC forum.

Lol, brother that is the TRUTH.

They didn’t approve my membership when I tried a year ago. Some guy even text me and ask me questions to verify I owned the business on behalf of UAMCC. Wasn’t good enough apparently and missed all the good drama…

Interesting. I’m not a paying member, but i visit the public forum and the public Facebook group. It’s been scorched earth over there for the last month or so. I mean like decades long friendships blowing up in spectacular fashion.

I joke about it, but honestly, it sucks to see.

Although, when you have political positions, and money, and type A blue collar personalities, i guess it’s bound to happen eventually, to some degree.

Picked up fittings and stuff today for plumbing my water supply reel to my pressure washer. I’m holding off on a buffer tank for the time being, but I have ordered a hudson float valve already for when it gets here. I picked up the zinc plated water hose splitter thanks to seeing @Racer and @squidskc doing it. I’ll probably go with Squid’s unorthodox approach of using a bungee hose on one side for a general purpose rinsing hose, then the other will get plumbed through the 3/4" Y strainer (80 mesh) and into the stainless steel 3/4" barb x 1/2" MPT fitting that will go on my pump.

One hose reel has arrived, and the other should be here tomorrow. I’ll post photos and comment on @Innocentbystander’s accuracy when it comes to quality, but for the price I paid, and my less than frequent job schedule, it was probably the best choice for me presently. I’m sure I’ll get several years worth of use out of them though.

I called ChemTainer, the huge water tank place nearby. I can pick up a 100 gallon transport tank for $197, and that includes them welding on 2 tank adapters, up to 2" in diameter, at any 2 locations I want. No pick up fee. I’m excited about that!

I bought all these parts from McMaster-Carr. Their distribution center is less than a mile from my job, so I got to will-call pick up for free. They have nearly everything under the sun, including nearly all fittings you can imagine, and really good pricing, and basically everything is in stock. They had my order ready in about 30 minutes from when I placed it online. If you are looking for a place to get stuff, check them out. They also have all sorts of clear basket water filters, all the sizes and meshes of the Banjo Y strainers, hudson float valves, and everything you could need to connect it all in any combination you could imagine. Also, they have the large diameter “king nipples” in stainless steel so you can get a 3/4" or 1" barb for your pump inlet for a really good price. Just another option for everyone if you’re interested. It’s nice to find nearly everything you need in one spot at really great prices.

Thats a great price on 100 gal.

Look in that Y. It looks similar to the one @Racer and I (because of Racer) use, but if you open the ball valve and it’s 3/8 of an inch or less opening I’ll send you a true full flow Y. 5/8” opening.

I did notice it was tiny through the ball valve, but I just assumed that’s what you guys had.

Message me your address. I’ll send you one of the ones we got. I bought a pile of them in case they stop making them.

What are yours called?

Have to keep checking for them but Lowes carries wide mouth spitters made by Glidden I believe

I’ve only found them with this big of an opening at ACE hardware. I think it’s True Full Flow or something similar

That is a Y from buffer to go to pump and extra hose for whatever? Am i following correctly?

The Y will get plumbed right at the swivel on the water supply (garden hose) hose reel.

One Y direction will get a barb and clear hose that goes to the Y strainer, then out of the strainer to a barb on the pump.

The other Y direction will just get a short cheap garden hose on it that for rinsing things off or whatever else might be useful.

@squidskc has a trailer video where he details his setup like this, but it might be private. He may be willing to share it with you so you can see exactly what we are talking about. If I understand correctly, he got it from @Racer. Seems like a really economical and effective way to have quick water access on your rig.
