Nasty house, injector question

First time I’ve seen this, all four sides had old, multi year algae/mildew buildup. With my 8/3000 it took multiple applications of SH and way too long.

I eventually got it all off but still had to get on the roof and get ‘up close and personal’ with stubborn stains.

I know you guys have experimented with force feeding injectors or expensive doodads, I really need to do something to increase the potency without messing with a bulky 12v. I dearly miss the way my 4/4 would drain that bleach tank.:+1:

Pull out the XJet. I know it’s not fun hauling a bucket around but it works and keeps hotter mix out of your hose. Is this level of organic growth normal for you? Are you using 12% straight?

How are you currently post treating concrete?

I just downstream everything for the most part. This house was just absurdly stubborn, multiple years of growth cycles.

If I could just get back to 1%, I’d be really happy.

The best your going to do is running straight 12.5. Maybe that’s why you had concrete striping issues with your 5.5, you probably didn’t have the means to pre and post treat any usable strength for concrete. 12v pumps are good things. If I wanted to punish an employee I would hand him an xjet and 5 gallon bucket.

I loathe the XJet and use it maybe twice a year if I have an area up high where 12v won’t reach. I always DS straight 12%, usually with the GP kynar injector but will switch to a high draw on a house like that. May have to increase dwell time and mist occasionally but it will eventually disappear.

If you’re still running your small enclosed trailer I know you’re tight on space but man a 12v pump comes in handy almost every day.

That’s every day North Carolina mildew. DS once with the orifice pulled out of the super fancy injector, wait 5 minutes, rinse.

I wonder how hot your bleach is to begin with?

I bet that the guys who have no issues ds’ing with their 8’s on nasty houses, are probably receiving 15% SH, and using it up before it has any chance to degrade.

I just pull straight 12.5 from the SH pail. I do it often for small stubborn spots mostly on gutters.

I use a 2.1 GP with a remote valve, are you onto something I haven’t heard about yet?

@Infinity maybe, it’s standard 12.5 pool shock from the pool supply store. It was killing the ‘normal’ stuff just fine but really didn’t want to rinse completely off even after three bleach hits. It almost seemed like it had grown multiple layers over the years.

If this continues I may have to consider getting the bulk stuff from the PW store.

Does it come in those gallon jugs? If so, check the date on them.

See if you can decipher this…

I would say May 29, 2020. :man_shrugging:

Ah gotcha, the 5 digit number, yyddd. Maybe I better keep a little less in my garage. :flushed:

Upon further reading it seems pool shock can drop down to 9% after 30 days. Bummer.

Fresh bleach makes a huge difference. Surely there’s somewhere in the Louisville area that offers “pull up, fill up” service for SH.

That’s no good anymore. With the heat we are having, I wouldn’t use anything over a week old. Fresh bleach makes a huge difference. My guy gets about 2000 gallons every Friday. It’s made on Wednesday. I get mine delivered every Monday.

Ah, lovely.

I don’t know day to day how much I need. Some jobs are two gallons, some are 8-9. I wouldn’t go through a 55gal drum fast enough. Lately I get one, maybe two housewash jobs a week.

I could go 5gallon refill I guess, will have to check.

I don’t suppose there’s a meter you can buy to check chlorine content?

I don’t think so. At least not one that is practical for us. Stick you finger in it, if it’s warm you should be good.

I recently found a janitorial supplier about 15 minutes from me that sells a 15 gallon drum of SH from them for about $45. I just actually picked up my second container this past Monday as I depleted the original 15 gallons over the weekend. Took me about a month, but I used it up. I keep it in my garage all sealed up but I have a 7-gallon container I keep in the back of the truck that I make my HW mix in and I just use a siphon pump to transfer from the large container to the small one as needed. Sure beats crushing 1-gallon bottles and taking them to the recycling center each week!

Try going to a 1.8 injector. Should get you a higher percentage when DSing

A 2.1 is already down sizing for an 8 gpm. They label a 2.3 for an 8 gpm. I tried a 1.8 and got less.
