Mounting PW on plywood?

Got a tiny trailer going to build a raised table to mount PW and hose reels in like a L shape from front left over and down right side just a bit. Plan on using some 2x4s for legs but wondering what I should use to top it.
3/4" plywood or a 2x10s or 2x8s idk but something around there ? if I use 2" boards will have to match bolts with some longer ones I would think.
Thanks

use 2x4 boards if anything. dont use plywood for anything structural. conside buying 2 2x2 tube steel, cut it how you want, then hire a welder to burn it in, you can get away with 3/16 th in steel plate as base. in sure you could find cheaper steel at a recycler. just hire the welder lastly.

Ok ! Yeah I’ll go 2" all the way around then. I’d like a nice welded build and all that but this is a more budget setup haha !! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

it doesn’t take much

Yeah I figure if I can get pw out cart and off the ground I’ll get a little storage space back

oh, and you’ll basically cut the 2in in half lengthwise, and that doubles your material

I think I’m going to mount the pw around same stop top left and right side will have hose reels is how I’m thinking

if you mount the motor pump assembly higher about mid axle by making a platform across from front to back, that way you can mount the terms to it also and not needing to pay for to much welding

What do you mean mount it further back instead of on the front like that ?? I have a 200’ pressure reel on way and will be getting the liberty 200’ garden reel shortly to mount as well

you want the heavier items over the axle or just in front for best balance. too much weight in back and it causes driveability problems and will also flop backwards once you unmount it from vehicle.

Oh ok right yeah I plan on having it go across top left to right and maybe 1/3 or 1/2 way down right side just enough to mount reels. Going to mount them as close to the edge as possible. Try to keep it as open as possible

if you build the mount high enough you can mount the buckets, and chems all under it. and put a small 35gal buffer tank just in front. i prefer the reel handle on left

Possibly ! Yeah I want it High enough to put my chem under for sure possibly my 5g I’m going to do some measurements and what not soon  !

Please, sell that trailer and get at least a 5x8 or 10. Don’t bother outfitting a 3x5 or whatever that little thing is. Ask me how I know.

I think the man speaks from experience (and I hear this a LOT about trailers on here)…it may serve you well to avoid repeating lessons learned. Therein lies the true value in this forum. You may want to take him up on his offer and ask him :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Guess that will be my next purchase then…I will keep this until I can afford to get a 5x8. I’d rather learn on here instead of “in person” haha !

I think he was saying you’d be happier making the swap now, rather than putting any time into building up something you may wind up ditching in a month out of frustration.

Yeah I know I just don’t have the funds I literally just paid my daughter’s braces off as well as finishing paying for Xmas stuff lmao…yeah I kinda jumped into this without thinking to far ahead…
I will look into trailers again used see if I can get lucky…I looked for over a month locally in my 30ish mile area and this was one of the only ones I could find the whole time…was a few 5x8s but were completely old and rusted looking like they were on their last leg. There was tons of enclosed new trailers everywhere on facebook and Craigslist tho.
But I shall get back on the hunt and see possibly I can put mine up for trade with cash for one a bit bigger !!
Also I suck at backing up trailers I had a 14ft boat I re glassed with my wife and that’s about it for practice and come to find out smaller means more difficult to back up haha
As long as I can remember I had to get burned to find out the stove was hot tho

You may need to widen your search area too. We’re in a very built-up area an hour from 2 cities, and I still have to widen my search to pretty much that hour radius to get a decent selection of used trucks/trailers/etc. What’s an hour or two drive to get what you need, and at a viable price? We’ve had to go 6 hours away to get our aluminum skids how we want them built, and further to get our water trailer.
