I bought a maruyama 8 gpm chemical pump monntthhs ago, but have no where to mount it at the moment. I like the idea of it because it runs off gas instead of a battery which is also something else I didn’t want to deal with. Having a pump take up less space than two moveable battery boxes was about the only way I could get to tackling the factory and this church in any reasonable amount of time.
I’d love to have something that shoots soap 60 feet in the air, but is there anyway to rinse with any kind of efficiency at that height? I’m not really sure yet.
As far as air diaphragm pumps I’d have to lug around a compressor too which I’m just not capable of at the moment nor is it my desire to do so. If I’m being honest with myself and I keep getting huge jobs like this, it may make sense to build a softwash only truck that can lug around 150 gallons of soap which is about what I’ve used each day we’ve been here. That truck also needs rinse capability.
I had a good phone call a couple weeks ago with IBS and he said he use to have all this stuff separate when he first started and inevitably customers would want multiple services so I’m on the fence. I am not completely sure I want to offer multiple services. I’ve got this winter to decide because in February/March I’m not offering some of the same stuff I have been. Gotta pare down the list even more. I may do stucco, eifs, and flatwork for commercial exclusively and vinyl, painted surfaces, flat work, and gutters for residential exclusively. Residential roofs aren’t a big market here. If you can sell roofs in your market it may be time to start researching, buying and trying, and asking these other pros.
That’s a long way of saying, I don’t have a ton of experience with pumps like these nor do I really wish to. I want to find something that works for me with the least amount of effort involved and ride that horse until one of us kicks it. The only reason I have the 12v is for space and I figured I should try it before I knock it. I know one thing for sure. @racer was right. It sure as heck beats the x-jet.
