Mechanical issue

I will check on that. Is the pvc ok to use as long as I don’t over tighten?

It’s low pressure in bypass, any hose will do.

I’d really like to get you onto flow sensitive unloaders - but that’s another story! (Game changer though!)

Peace out :call_me_hand:t2:

Handshake my friend. Thanks again

Mine is partially plumbed with pvc. It’s probably not the best material to use but I know plumbing from an ibc tote is harder to do than a traditional leg tank. Do some jobs and get a leg tank with a 2" outlet and you can just neck it down to 1" and use a hose barb and run hose the entire length. Also your brakes will love you for it. Less sloshing.

I didn’t use a bulkhead fitting for my bypass. Just tapped a hole for a 1/4" threaded barb. A bulkhead will work great too.

Be sure to vent your buffer tank if you haven’t already.

Marinegrunt, how do I properly vent the tank? I did not do that. I just used the bulkhead in the top for my water supply and Hudson float.

If your tank lid has a smaller plug in the center just take it out. Bam. Vented.

Yes it does and yes I will. Lol. Didn’t know the importance of doing that but I’m on it.

Without a vent you can collapse the bladder of your tote. Not fun.

Just noticed another thing in your pictures. That small red plug in the top of your pump should be replaced with a dipstick that should’ve came with the rig.

I just tapped another threaded hose barb, added a short section of hose, and threw a little plastic fuel filter on it. I just took the lid off for awhile but thought this way might prevent leaves or something from falling in. Not that it’s a big deal though cause the water filter will catch anything that does.

Wow I missed a lot! See what me mean that pics help soooo much! Glad to see it’s figured out now tho!!!

On my bypass I just used a step bit and stopped when the hose just fight tight in the hole. Works perfect!

It’s weird that your pump doesn’t have a sight glass to check the oil level. That’s a minor detail but it makes life that much easier.

It’s located in the rear of the pump.[quote=“DisplacedTexan, post:94, topic:18205, full:true”]

I will search again. May have overlooked it. Didn’t see the dipstick when I unpacked. Thanks for the heads up.

Glad you got figured out. Reason everyone should post pics when asking questions.

It looks like you’re trying to do a neat job on your build. I too would be interested in where you purchased this. If they did the remote bloc setup up for you, then they screwed up on the bypass but since it’s an 8gpm, they usually come setup with barb for a tank bypass and most legit places will test everything before shipping and have any adjustments made.

Couple of little things -

  1. get rid of that intake hose and get some non crushable tiger-flex or spiro-flex hose. (you too @DisplacedTexan).
  2. Order you a fixed 2.1 (3-5 gal size) injector. Those adjustable injectors are notorious for not working long
  3. Go to HD or Lowes and get some preforated 6" drain pipe to stuff in your tote. Will settle the sloshing problem (you too @DisplacedTexan)
  4. I agree on sight glass on pump needs to be where you can easily see (if on backside behind belts, virtually worthless) Can switch
  5. @anon26752184 already mentioned - get a flow unloader when you can and move ds injector over to reel.
  6. Do as @anon26752184 suggested and get a bulkhead fitting to top of tank for your bypass hose - will save you grief in the future - don’t just stick it thru the tank wall.
  7. You may want to see how @Grizz had little frame built to mount his reels on rail. The pressure one, especially, takes a fair amount of stress and just mounted to side rail I’d be a little worried about unless there’s some bracing I can’t see in pic.

Good luck with your business. You’ve got a nice setup that a lot of people on here would love to have.

Racer,

I appreciate the constructive advice given. I reinforced the rails on my trailer with two inch angle iron prior to mounting the reels. I will keep a close eye on them going forward. One goal is to upgrade to a tandem axle in the future. I am aware of weight constraints and will not haul volumes of water on this trailer. I’m just trying to establish a neat and functional setup to get my foot in the door. You have given me some great tips and I plan to put the information to good use. Your expert advice is appreciated.

I am not going to blame the vendor I purchased this machine from. I am the one that screwed up the bypass by placing that plug in there. It was open when shipped to me. I thought it was a port to plug a second spray gun as the specs indicated the machine is capable of running two spray guns. I figured since I was only running one I needed to plug the hole. Did not realize I was plugging my bypass. It all makes sense now that you all have educated me. I’m still glad I worked on this project myself and even more glad I did not screw up my machine with lack of knowledge. Thanks for putting me on track.

If you can’t find any of the spiro-flex hose locally, pm me your address and I’ll send you some. I keep a lot on hand. Most distributors sell by the foot, so get some next time you order something.

You’re probably alright for the short term, because you’ve got a pretty short run, but what can happen is the suction on the pump can cause the hose to collapse, which then starves your pump. It’s ok to use on low pressure pumps like a 12v, but even there if possible I’ll use the non-collapsible.
