I just realized that my last post could seem harsh but it was not meant that way. I am just flabbergasted that we didn’t pick up on this earlier. Pictures are worth a thousand words. I am also interested in where you purchased this. They are just asking to get someone hurt.
It’s a simple problem, with a simple fix my friend. I didn’t want to chime in earlier.
Take out the plug. Put a barb on it, run the hose from there to the top of your tank.
On a side note, I did this a long time ago when I first set up. Mine had a thermal relief valve in the other side which literally blew out when I started the engine. So I knew immediately there was a plumbing issue.
In your case, there was nothing to blow as they are both blocked. The water can’t go anywhere and so it stalls the engine.
This is how I knew from your first post it wasn’t the unloader being faulty as it was exactly what happened to me
Nailed it!!! I ran out to the garage and put a barb in the by pass hole. Hooked a garden hose to it and the machine purrs like a kitten!!! Runs perfect when I release the trigger. Guys it came set up this way and you all helped me tremendously! Simply amazing. I’m stoked!!
I know I’ve sent a ton of messages but I appreciate all of the help. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Closer inspection says it didn’t ship like that. Somewhere with the process, the hose in the pic attached was from the bypass port and into maybe an in-line filter on the supply (low side) of the pump.
You could put this back from bypass to the other side of the pump, opposite the inlet hose you have attached.
However, that pump won’t stay cool for long with that set up. Take it to tank and you’ll be set up perfect!
I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure that’s just an oil drain hose to make it easier to do fluid changes instead of just having a plug in a hard to reach area.
I copy. So you are suggesting I Run the by pass hose into the top of my tank. Which when I’m off the trigger the water circulates back into my tote. Is that how it works???
Oops, I meant to add - your chemical injector would be better placed at your hose reel, not where it currently is.
Glad it’s all working! Don’t forget to set the unloader too
It is for oil changes. One for pump and one for engine
Yes, you got it!
A closed circuit from the unloader to the pump will work, but you can’t have it running for long periods (like minutes max).
Running it to the tank uses the whole buffer tank as a radiator and keeps the pump cool.
Got it! I will relocate the injector tomorrow. I am super excited. Now I can clean up my mess!
Exactly. Get a bulkhead fitting that is similar in size to your bypass hose. Drill a hole in the tank somewhere that you can reach your arm inside and put in a bulkhead fitting. Throw a threaded barb in the bulkhead and connect your bypass. It allows you to be off the trigger for an unlimited amount of time without burning up your pump seals because you are constantly pulling cool water from the tank.
I completely understand. You have educated me my friend. I got it!
Yes it does. I will post better photos once I get it cleaned up. I’m just pleased you all help figure this out. That’s what is so great about this forum. I can’t wait to pay it forward.
Last question. I used a garden hose for this test but do I need a certain rated hose to run that by pass to the tote. Eventually I plan to add a hotbox. Wondering it the hose matters?
Be mindful of fastening down that pvc too tightly. If it’s too rigid it could crack if the trailer flexes and it cant wiggle a bit. Then you could run into sucking air into your pump which is a BIG no-no.
When you drill your bypass return to the top of the tank tomorrow - thread it through and put a 90° elbow in the end.
You can use a stainless hose clip to fix it in a position that directs the water at the side of the tank and this will stop the water from bubbling up (like it does if shooting downwards).
Also, if you’re running low on water, it will run down the side and not make bubbles that can possibly get into your water supply.
Well, I’ll bow out now and wish you luck with it
Not really. It isn’t high pressure by any means. Just find a hose that fits the barb coming off the unloader.
