Logo A or B?

Whaaaa??? You’re a genius, Alex!
Would you mind posting some ROI numbers to support your claim? (I believe you, I just want to see the numbers to see if I should do the same thing)

Interesting, I wouldn’t have thought to try that. I was planning on doing yard signs for the first time this year. Thanks for the tip.

Sorry, I didn’t track any numbers. Just seat of the pants observations. But my guess would be that my responses at least doubled after simplifying the signs.

The one key of course: you gotta show up in google when people search for you.

I feel like people have forgotten the company name on my truck by the time they get home from grocery shopping.

I’ve gotten multiple calls from the person behind me at traffic lights, but I can’t think of a single job I’ve sold that mentioned the website on my truck.

People seem to view companies with websites as more legit, versus companies without one. But they’re also more prone to call the number than visit the site (at least in my experience).

Would maybe a QR code on the side of the vehicle/trailer be an idea to ponder? Something that says “Snap this photo” and maybe an image of a cell phone taking the photo. It’d take you directly to your webpage. Maybe even say “scan here for (promotion)”

I’m spitballing here but I’ve wondered about doing this myself on my tailgate perhaps. The 2018 and newer F150’s have the large imprinted “F150” in it and I’m afraid that a normal vinyl decal may look weird over it.

I think people use your website more than you know. Most people now look you up before they call. You still get the call but they may have got your number from Google or your website. I get 90% of my business from website/internet and the other 10% from word of mouth and seeing me on their street.

I thought I had a plan for a website using squarspace or wix now I’m reading with the seo and bs Google isn’t a fan of those sites. The more I read the more involved every aspect of operating a business has become do this don’t do that and a thousand different ways how. One of my neighbors asked me what the white van was for in my driveway I told them I was going into the pressure washing business and guess who needs their house washed?

That’s funny I’ve actually always thought the same thing. Even though the phone number is what people say it’s important I don’t believe it’s what they use to find your business. Even if I really needed a service and saw someone’s lawn sign I would still look up the company first online before hiring. Maybe it’s because I’m not my customer but I just can’t imagine a lot of people would just impulsively call the phone number because it says window cleaning on the sign and hire them. Otherwise anybody could show up from a professional company or some grungy looking dude in a beat up truck.

Depends on the demographic that sees your marketing. Internet has only been around since the 90s and technology pace far outpaces an 80 year olds ability to learn new ways of doing things. Internet is normal to us but many people haven’t got a clue how to navigate there way around the internet. Sometimes a phone number is the direct link to a service. In other words a phone number is equally as important as digital content

Yeah this is true but I feel like this is also the minority over the majority of people looking for my services. Typically for yard signs people are driving around and I don’t think 80-year-olds that are still driving are going to even notice a yard sign as they drive-by let alone see a phone number or a website. Most people I think would just take a picture of the yard sign and in that instance some might just call the number if they’ve already seen your company or have heard about it but I do feel that if they have nothing to go off of they will look up your company. Granted I do have customers that don’t have a computer, don’t have a smart phone but that’s still such a small percentage. @MuscleMyHustle

It’s definitely the minority, my customer base at a guess is probably 25-35% elderly 70+. There not really the review a website kinda people, i think a phone number helps them a lot. One lady has me on here fridge with a note “house wash guy” with my phone number lol.

Yeah, it’s all a numbers game. I think the possibility of maybe losing 10% of impressions (too old/technologically illiterate) due to no phone number, can more than be made up by the increased number of people who have a shorter attention span and are unlikely to memorize either your name OR number if there’s more info than absolutely necessary on the sign.

Wow, what a run-on sentence ^^

Edited to add: it seems that most of my elderly customers are somewhat computer literate; at least enough to google a company name and click the “call now” button from their smartphones. It might be a regional thing, I suppose.

I did have one older lady complain last year about the lack of a phone number on my sign. She still managed to get ahold of me, though :smirk:

This is the basic idea. I need to order new ones this spring, with my new logo.

Thanks. I’m digging it.

Finally ordered some new apparel from Queensboro the other day. Still need to get the truck relettered.

Darkside being: using blue in my logo? Or power washing vs window cleaning?

Last year we were ~60% pw’ing. Of course, window cleaning revenue was way down from not doing interiors.

Why “power washing” over “house wash” on the sign?
I did the same. Mainly because “power washing” is more recognized here. Though I have seen some “house wash” signs.

Why promote just one service when you can promote the whole shebang

That’s my other thinking. Kinda pigeon hole yourself otherwise.

‘Cause I’m cheap and didn’t want to order different signs for posting in front of certain commercial buildings I wash :smirk:

I’ve also toyed with the idea of just putting:

“WE WASH STUFF”

And here I thought it was your great marketing genius or your natural intuition.
