Linking 2 pressure washers to gain gpm?

Ok who’s plumbed 2 pressure washers together to boost gpm? Did it work, smart idea, or insane?

Bad idea man, But dang funny to hear about the carnage left behind when ppl do it before they’ve did any research about it on here. Never works out right.

It can be done. It’s usually not worth it for most people.

I’m interested to see the responses. Being as I’m not super knowledgeable or have even considered this it should be a learning experience for all of us green horns. Let the comments begin!

I know nobody here recommends to siamese machines.
But anyone actually seen it work or fail… in person… ?
I met a guy a couple hours away from my home that had 4 or 5 machines hooked to be ran together. 1/2 hose 3 triggers going at once. It was a big rig.

I havent seen it really discussed either. I’m looking for the good/bad reasons as to why to go one way or another. Hopefully we all get something out of this.

@Hotshot Does it blow pressure hoses? What goes bad in the scenario?

I know didly about it. But i have seen it working in person from a real deal company.

Save up some money. Sell your two small machines and buy what you need to be profitable instead of possibly destroying the ones you have now

Have you tried searching it? Looks like it’s been discussed quite a few times.

@anon37135677 tried to search it but having issues. Dont know if issues are with the sight the device or the operator.

I can’t make any sense out of what you’re explaining here…

It has been discussed to absolute death here. Bad idea. Get what you need to do the job

@OC2X 4 or 5 linked together is just ridiculous, there not a real deal company. There a “fingers crossed” company. While 2 Pressure washers can be Siamesed successfully, why wouldn’t you just get the right equipment if your thinking of doing this seriously.

Okay.
The owner operator had four or five pressure washers on a flatbed c5500. Each machine was capable of 5.5 gallons per minute and roughly 3000 psi all equipped with 18 horsepower vanguards combustion engines.
Each machine was siamesed together. His team had three men i.e. 3 triggers and 4 machines running at once.

The thought process behind doing such a thing is beyond me…

Im young as well max. The thought process may be beyond these boards and 1 years experience.

I think @BigJake tried it.

Yup. Did it on a big flat work job once. Hooked two 5’s together, but it still didn’t push as much as one 8 gpm machine. I used 2 high pressure hydraulic check valves connected to either side of a 3 way fitting. Got the check valves and fitting from a local hydraulic shop. The check valves and the 3 way create too much friction to actually run the gpm you think you’re gonna run. Didn’t even lift an 18” sc off the ground. I’ve since upgraded to 8 gpm pumps. I think the proper way to siamese machines is to run both pumps through check valves and into a single unloader, but I still don’t think it’d be worth all that effort for minimal gain.
