Lets talk DI/RO Systems

Kinda getting tired of DI tank exchanges…

Like 10 years back I remember staying away from the RO/DI systems because those membranes were like 900$ to replace.

It seems to me like things have changed? Cheaper now?

Whats a good system out there? With non proprietary filters

I’m not washing windows as much as I use too, but we are still washing. It takes too much time from my day to load and unload a new tank every other month… Plus I’m starting to hate that monthly bill.

WCR forum?

I have no affiliation with them but they are king. Hitch your wagon to them.

Yes, but those guys are window guys… Kinda wanna hear it from the Pressure Wash guys like my self

The WCR guys use the RO/DI systems a lot more than we do.

I’m both.

I don’t think you’re going to get a lot of feedback from the PW guys.

The Xero systems have no proprietary filters, come with a 12 year warranty, instant customer service and they perform like a beast. I have an X2 that gets tons of hours and gives me no issues.

Are you using it for PWing too? Feeding your buffer tank? or just windows?

Xero system hands down……I use the xero X2, love it.

Ditto- have it fed off of my buffer tank w a on demand 12v pump. Love the fact I can wash a house and then offer to detail the windows. Adds to the ticket and is easy since the house wash did the heavy lifting of cleaning the dirt/film off
Of the glass.

Slick setup. Wish my houses didn’t have screens.

Brock, It’s about 50/50 here, houses with screens.

A lot of customers take off the screens as we are right by the ocean and not a lot of bugs and also customers prefer no screens to impede their view.

But for the other half of customers w screens- yeah, a pain. As you well know, ladder up or go inside. :joy:

Roger that. Gotta love the el cheapo single hung vinyls with screens that come in from the inside.

We just have our customers take them off if doing outside only…we even have older customers that do it. It’s that or pay us to come in and take them off….they almost always take them off. A lot take them off when we just wash the house with no window cleaning, gets the window bases cleaned better that way, they love it.

I want to know your magic way of getting customers to remove screens, most of mine have zero clue how to do it or they are to frail.

Very seldom do we have to take out screens for outside only, if we do we charge…so. Outside only is suppose to be an economical window clean. We don’t clean the bases on outside only either, unless it a house wash and naturally it gets cleaned. Most all the time I use the water fed…fly thru it.

Correct, I wanna hear it from guys that don’t use them as much…

Like my self…

Just don’t want to overkill and buy a system that I might just never use to its full potential. Hope that makes sense

Just windows…

I do love my Xero Micro Gold, it’s been a beast!

DIY? Quite a bit of plumbing but 4040 membrane housings and refillable 4X20 empty filters for resin are available from various suppliers. Amazon has everything but not the best quality. The endcaps on cheaper Amazon/Ebay 4040 housing are problematic but better quality for a little more is available. This would be okay for an add on for someone who is looking for an off season project. The pole fed brooms are best bought from a professional supplier as are the membranes. (extreme low energy membranes below 100 psi). The basic water circuit is just plumbing and time.

Hmmm…

I will definitely look into this
