Lessons and Questions

Lessons and Questions.

Lesson learned today, close the proportioner valves when not in use. I checked my system before heading out to my practice house (my parent’s). When I got there my SH tank was empty and my booster tank with a batch of SH and SLO-Mo in it. Well damn that went south quickly.

Question.

When using my 12v soft wash to get the best use of pre-mixed patch and to drain my booster. I sprayed as much as I could; the drive way and roof.

The question is the driveway appears to have a red tint now. Is it fixable and which process would be the best fix?

Ouch on the SH drain brother lol :frowning:

It made for a good batch but in the booster tank. I didn’t want to run that through my pump. It was older SH, and most of it was in the trailer when I bought it. A little over a month now. I am still playing with the set up to learn it before it try to make any money with.

That driveway is still quite dirty. You can see a lot of surface cleaner marks. What kind of equipment do you have?

I’m confused about what you’re saying… can you take a picture of your setup? Not sure what you mean by closing your proportioners and how everything would leak out. The driveway is still wet and there’s a lot of missed spots. Washing and using SH doesn’t turn anything red.

The picture was taken 3 hours after the wash. I used @20” SC with over lapping up and down passes. There was surfactant down so it was easy to ensure full coverage. Now I didn’t do any edging work or good prep to ensure the sides wear clear. But the passes wear true. Probably could have gone slower. But as I said this is my parents house that I am using to feel out my equipment. So far all of roof work is out back and out of sight. With a large addition flat roof to work from.

It was a very slight red tint to it. I assumed it to be a rust stain. Probably from the SH reacting to the concrete. ???

As for the draining into the booster tank, it is the fist time that has happened. Unless the pump has gone bad or my accumulator has too much PSI charged in it. I don’t really see why it would have back flowed into the tank.

The 26 gallon SH is mounted on top of the booster tank. With the 12v pump and proportioner mounted to the side of the SH tank

I definitely wasn’t there to focus on the driveway. It just happen to trouble shoot the system. The surfactant was making a large amount of soap down the drive and the gutter. So at one point, I was more trying to get it done and rinsed.

The SC is 20” brand found on Amazon. The standard go to Everflo 12v pump The pressure washer is a Predator and Comet Combo. I also have a Honda and Comet comb. The pumps are 4000psi and when flowing the SC is have @2500 residual working pressure.

You need to post a pic of your system. What the heck is a booster tank? Do you mean buffer tank?
SH didn’t cause drive to have reddish tint. Just looks like an average older drive.

There are absolutely areas the SC missed on there too, or someone misted spray paint in an odd pattern (ask me how I know that overspray from a spray can looks like missed SC streaks on concrete :unamused: )

There are definitely missed areas I am not disputing that. More so at the end of the closet side and edges. I am not concerned about it. I am more concerned that I noticed a red tint that wasn’t there before.

SH might have reacted somehow, if this was a paying customer I’d SC it again without pre/post treat and follow F9 Efflo process if the iron stains are still there.

Thank you.

One lesson to learn: make sure to take a before pic.

That way when you have something you think changed or looks off, you can look at the before pic.

Of course. It is my parents house so know pretty much every flaw of the house. And just cleaned the driveway last year with a home owner grade pressure washer and surface cleaner. It was well stripes from last time. The first practice roof job got a before and after comparison. I know it isn’t a real before and after. But it is my practice house to fine tune and learn my equipment.

Will we ever find out what a booster tank is?

Then what is the main water tank called. I will make sure not to bother you with the wrong terminology again.

I’m assuming what you are referring to is what is typically called a buffer tank. Where you connect that tank to the home’s water source, and draw from the tank, thus having a “buffer” against low volume from the spigot. I think it may be commonly called a booster tank in other industries, but with a similar use. I’m not 100% clear on your setup though, as I’ve never seen an onboard batch mixing system personally.

I’m not bothered just confused. Being on the same page matters when trying to work something out.

@dc1mk2 if you get the chance Brian, please share with us a few photos of your set up. We all love a lil pressure washer porn! And, like Muscle stated, it allows us to be able to know what it is you are working with so we can all be on the same page and may assist you more easily in the future.

I will definitely do that when I get home. I am a firefighter so I work 24 hours shifts with plenty of time to keep on researching and planning.
