I only use my reel for storage, so I can’t answer that completely, but I do think it would bird nest a bit.
Could try calling them - Contact : BluBird - Ultra Light Weight Rubber Hose & Hose Reels
I am not sure, as I always pull all my hose off, but I think as long as you have the brake engaged on your reel when working it should be fine.
Did you get your hose this week? Did they allow you to change your order?
Yes, I got it. They were very helpful and professional, and they took care of it immediately. They changed the order for me, charged the difference, and I received it the next day. I haven’t used the non-marking yet, but I’ll probably just keep using the black hose because it’s not leaving any marks either.
Supplier has these back in stock now:
My 1-wire burst today so now I am running 200’ of Kevlar hose, it’s so much nicer.
I see Atlas1 runs a 5.5gpm, what are you other guys who have tried it out running? The 4100psi worries me, since our newer 8gpm rigs burst the crap out of all of our 1-wire hose at the beginning of the season, until I trashed it all for 2-wire. Otherwise, I am intrigued.
Well I run a 4/4. But I don’t think the gpm matters, as long as your psi doesn’t exceed 4,000??? Also, I think Kevlar is more chemical resistant and doesn’t rust…
Okay, as many of you may know I don’t downstream anymore I use my diy xjet, so chems in hose isn’t an issue for me personally. However, with my experience in carbon fiber poles, I do remember that cf is bleach resistant but Kevlar is not. (Some WFP use Kevlar in the base section to insulate against electricity)
Now, having said that, steel wire is susceptible to bleach as well and it rusts, which Kevlar doesn’t.
So, I don’t know how the hose is constructed, perhaps the Kevlar is between layers of rubber??? Does it react the same as steel wire to bleach?
I don’t know, but I can tell you that my steel wire hose burst today because of rusting, and my Kevlar hose is still going strong.
Not sure, the suspect hoses pre-dated my time in this role, but I know they started bursting a lot this spring. Come to think of it, they burst just as much on the 5gpm truck as they did on the others…so had to be another issue.
You got bad hose. I’ve run 8 gpm for 20 plus years with single wire.
@JAtkinson I don’t know where you get your information from, I run an 8gpm machine, and I have for 6 years.
The Kevlar hose is doing great. It’s all I’ll buy from now on if it holds up as well as they say it will. My season is almost over (I stop at the end of September), so I won’t be able to give it a full review until some time next year. I’ve always replaced at least one hose every year up to now, so even if it only lasts two years, it’s still better and worth it.
It says it right next to your name and since hes new he probably doesnt know people or their machines yet.
That’s the old member rating system that was put in place by the PWRA organizers years ago. It has nothing to do with my equipment, but I can see where it would be confusing. I guess I’ll see about getting that removed somehow.
Hey welcome. You would probably be well served to read more, talk less, unless your talk is factual or knowledgeable. Soak up the posts here, research, and enjoy the plethora of wisdom, and gobbledygook, here.
Oh really? I didnt know it was a member rating. I knew it was irrelevant but im sure @Infinity could help you out getting it changed
Was that intended for me or JAtkinson?
The other cat with an A in his name. Tagged the wrong one
@Atlas1, I’d be happy to change your moniker to whatever you like
