K7 unloaders

@Racer You use a K1?

I can’t get my K7 set correctly on my 8.6 gpm. It bypasses too much water when I use a high pressure tip and my Jrod. It still puts out a ton of water though. I have the pressure a little under pump specs of 3,000 psi right now. I don’t have a red tip but I used a yellow tip to set it. Trying to get a trickle in my bypass when I’m on the trigger but no luck. I was able to set it for my 4 4gpm and 5.5gpm.

Are you using size 10 tips?

#1509 - yellow tip

I’ll start the bidding at treefiddy.

Yeah, so that’s gonna bypass close to a gallon at 3000psi

Why? Do I have it set wrong or is that normal for 8 gpm? I had it set to a trickle before but I had m K7 set with the #3 orifice and 1/4" bypass hose. I since moved the machine from truck bed to trailer, changed the orifice to #3 and 3/8" bypass and shorter run.

You said your pump is 8.6 gpm, right? You should be running a number 10 nozzle if you want it around 3000 psi.

Could someone point me in the right direction. I have read through all of these K7 threads and finally decided to install the one I bought last year today. It bypasses the majority of the water back to the tank and I have almost no pressure coming out of the gun.

I am running a 8 gpm at 3500 psi. I believe the tip I need is a 8.5, I have that and a pressure gauge set up. Both orifices are #3s so I assume the bypass orifice needs to be a #2. Does anyone have a link as to where to buy the orifice?

I bought the K7 from PressureTek but I don’t see the orifice on their site and I looked around Southside and didn’t see it either.

I can just give them a call in the morning, but if someone has a link that would be really helpful.

Also if there is something else I should be on the look out for I would appreciate the feedback,

Thanks
Joe

Also I kinked the bypass hose and that started to increase my gun pressure, but the bypass hose just blew off the barb. SO I assume that is where the problem is.

Thanks again

If you have very little water coming out the wand then screw the bolt in. It will increase the pressure and flow.
Call Russ at Southside Equipment. He has the #2 orifice.

All these issues just so you don’t get a slight kick when you squeeze the trigger? Doesn’t sound worth it. What are the other benefits?

Easier on pretty much all components. Hose is easier to manage, as well.

Hmm. I don’t have issues managing hose so it probably wouldn’t be worth it to me.

Carry on, boys.

Yea, I cranked it all the way down. Still only a small stream coming out.

I’ll give Russ a call. Thanks

Joe

You try one, you’ll never go back.

You mean try a K1? Or an unloader in general?

To make the hose easier to manage just adding that $40 mosmatic swivel before the gun has made hose management a breeze… Won’t wash without one now

That good huh? I just can’t picture it being worth it to me. Maybe it is and I’m just too old school.

Dedgum thanks for pointing that out. I completely missed the bspp threads on the spec sheet.

Also, discount hydraulics has more reasonably priced adapters than McMaster’s. They aren’t as robust, but I’m willing to bet they’ll be fine.

You’ll have to call Southside. They sell them, and reasonably priced too, but you won’t find them on the website.
