Just bought a boxtruck and could use your guys advice with setup

With my season being so short (6, maybe 7 months) this is the kind of info that interests me. because if i can do one large (275gal) tote delivery for the season and just use that while its lowering % for the summer that would be awfully convenient than paying for multiple barges to deliver drums, nevermind the fact that they can be delayed etc.

Currently im paying right around 20 bucks for three 121oz jugs of bleach at costco. Buying 12-15 3 packs at a time sucks. Pouring bottles upon bottles sucks. getting rid of those bottles sucks! Dealing with the bottles in general sucks. Imagine after every job you do, youve got to dispose of like 30 of these things. Its cutting into my day and definitely affecting my sanity :stuck_out_tongue:

That is the kind of thing that I would test if possibleā€¦I mean, one tote isnā€™t going to break the bank for most, but if you could do 1 drum, or even a 5er and see how it held up in your conditions, then youā€™d knowā€¦

I know it may seem like a lot. But 2-3 decent sized roofs will eat up a drum of beach in a heartbeat. I wouldnā€™t worry about it going bad long as you keep it cool and kind of dark. Cool not a problem for you since it never gets hot. And depending on which machine you go with, youā€™ll be going thru a lot more SH as your business gears up anyway. I could see you going thru 3-4 drums a month pretty easily during your busy season.

Heres my idea/layout so far.

ideally if i could put a 275 tote of SH up in my box truck in Washington right before i get on the ferry in bellingham i could save a ton on shipping and have a tote to use for the summer and see how far it gets me. Also I can secure it in my buddies shop and he has a forklift, so i could load up, take to his shop and pull SH into a smaller day tank on the truck which would be ideal.

I am assuming i could build a platform on the wheelwell to be able to put the 8gpm unit on and have exhaust facing outwards towards roll open door and be ok. That would make it easy to access electric start from outside after installing a door. This is all sight unseen and without measurements so im shooting from the hip so please feel free to make fun of me if ive overlooked something.

That RV Door Hatch could be a bit of a pain. I am assuming the metal on the outside of the trucks where the door might want to go has nothing to do with structure and is there for aerodynamics? I might have to chop into that in order to make a door work depending on measurements and what i could access.

If i cannot travel with the 275 Tote, I will try and load up two 55 gal totes and see how that goes, but ideally id like to have everything hooked up and have enough space to be able to move a pallet of something on and off the truck. That might be a pipedream with the wheelwells popping up into the box though.

Thoughts?

Tanks i was thinking something like theseā€¦It doesnt appear to have a hole cut out on bottom which from what ive been reading here is a big no no.

Iā€™d start with one of these & arrange everything else around it.

YOU DONT HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS!!!

Under 20 bucks and attaches and closes right over a standard 5 gallon bucket. The old lady is actually ok with using it on the boat. Youre welcome @TheWizard :stuck_out_tongue:

Just cut a hole in the floor. Otherwiseā€¦ Nice rig dude! Iā€™m curious to see how what the adults recommend on your layout.

Reels need to be on same side as machine. But a big honking rv door and let it good down over tire when not closed. That rib is not structural. Iā€™ve owned about 5 of those trucks. Use a doorway tank. Takes up lot less room than a tote

Iā€™m assuming you would want reels on same side as pressure washer to clean up water supply hose and whip line? In your video you linked its showing your cranks on the right side. Have you changed that setup to where they crank on the left or does that work for you? Seems like it could be a bit of a pain to crank with it up against the box on the right. The reason i chose the right side was the exhaust going out the back. If i swapped it to the left side the exhaust would be pointed right at the cab which is probably not great, but the reels cranks would be towards the middle of the box.

Those doorway tanks look nifty but the only reason why id be putting a tote in there is because its easy to just forklift right back out once ive taken it into the shop.

That door you had looks to be about 2 feet tall by 4 feet wide. Does that sound about right to you?

I havenā€™t had a box truck in years, so I donā€™t remember exactly, and I once had a lot of trucks on the road. You can swap out mufflers for right or left exhaust but the position I had the best luck with was the machines blowing exhaust out the RV doors. Reels can roll from either side by swapping the swivel and handle, if thatā€™s what youā€™re asking. Why would you be taking your water tank in and out, or did I miss something?

Gotcha. Didnt know mufflers can be changed for left or right exhaust. I have not been able to get my eyes on anything larger than 4gpm up here so havent seen any of this stuff in real life. This knowledge is helpful. The reels i would assume are swappable, but i didnt know the exhaust can be changed to opposite until now so that makes sense to me.

The buffer tank i would be using would be 55-65 gallons, that tote in the picture i drew in would be just for me taking up to alaska full of SH to set down in a buddies shop. Not to cart around that much water all the time. so 2 55 gallon tall tanks, one for water, the other for SH. Hopefully plumbed to a soft wash reel and able to downstream from that same 55gal SH tank if that makes sense.

They canā€™t be changed on the little 11hp Hondas but they can on the GX models. Just order whichever side you want when you buy our build one. Rest of what you said makes sense.

engine hoist should work to get drums loaded. rent something if needed. Id consider this if you have a hitch kr can get one.

What a great idea. Thank you! Never knew they made one like that

@Innocentbystander Just bought that 8gpm unit with Udor from Diego so feel free to collect your free O-ring :stuck_out_tongue:

He probably doesnā€™t even use themā€¦just makes a chain of them to hang from his rearviewā€¦

That is awesome. If he hasnā€™t shipped it I might swing by tomorrow and put a bag of grits and some side meat on the pallet for you.

Still working out shipping details. Doubt its gone by tomorrow especially with the holidays but the important thing is its in motion and im making moves. One day im going to be a real boy!
