Is this truck overkill?

Alright I’m late, it’s in pretty decent shape for a 2001, I’m polishing the headlights tomorrow, and will be starting to build on it a bit this week.

If it’s a 5.4, put a for sale sign on it. They are the best gas engine made, except for 2001-2003. I probably why thru a half dozen heli coils on one until I put a bullet proofed engine in. Then the truck was in a flood about two months later.

It’s a 7.3 diesel, that is one of the nice things about buying older you get to know the history. I’m a bit more concerned on the transmission side, but there is always a little element of luck we must depend on. I’m sorry to hear about your truck, hope that you didn’t lose too much else in the flood.

I’m in love with the 7.3. Think they still look super nice and professional despite being 20 Years old. Engines are bullet proof and there are very few major issues with the truck itself. How much did you pay for it? I’m actually in the market for one myself

$9500, I’m sure I overpaid but its in good shape, 100k miles, very little rust, lived in Florida, he had 46 service records for it. The bed is clean and has a lift gate which I figure will be nice for hoisting the power washers up and down since I have to do all of that myself. I think a 12’ bed would be ideal, but I’m looking forward to not having to bang my knuckles up anytime I need to work on something.

I lost 250k over night in 2016. Insurance covered about 50k. Rough weekend

Was that Matthew?

That’s one heck of an ouch! @Innocentbystander Glad to see it didn’t take you under.

yep. I was in WV riding hatfield mccoy trails with Bob from PTstate when the storm hit. Can’t get flood insurance if your aren’t in a flood zone. I had 5 or 6 ft of water inside my shop

Now everyone knows why you’re grumpy. :grinning:

It was a horrible storm. It devastated central NC

Insurance is so weird. That would be like if Progressive refused to cover you because you never drove the car. Like, shouldn’t it just be a ridiculously low rate to insure for a risk that low?

In NC the army Corp of engineers has to deem it a flood plain, then it goes to the NC legislature, then to Dept of insurance. I’ve worked at it for about 15 years at some property I own near the coast and the jobs in almost close with it.

Water was about 5 feet high inside the hunting house. This was two years after my shop flooded

Yep. I’ll continue to take my copious precipitation in solid form.

Though we came very close to suffering water damage from Irene in 2011. Water came more than halfway up the skirting of our mobile home. Trailers just across the street from us were completely flooded.

Looks fantastic, great job!

Approximately how much for the wrap?

That truck looks awesome. I’ve seen it around a few times. I don’t make it to Greenville often. Who did the wrap?

How long is that bed?
