iPhone XS Max - dual phone numbers?

Anyone have experience with the iPhone XS Max with dual SIM cards (for 2 telephone number one 1 cell phone) or even with other current cellphones with this same feature.

I’m thinking this will be good for separating personal and business calls but I’m looking to see if anyone here has real world experience pros/cons. I searched and found some old comments arguing the merits of 2 lines (on phones that are now obsolete) but didn’t find much about real world experience - what works well, what sucks, etc.

I’m in process of getting equipment and setting up for a Spring launch and I’m trying to cover all my bases.

Get a Google Number or something similar. You can have two numbers on one phone and they are free.

@Clean_Blue have you done this? I’ve heard reports of dropped calls, poor quality (e.g. noisy) connections, etc.

Love to hear about personal experience!

I’ve been using it as my business number for around five years now. I like it a lot and never had one problem. Some good features too.

I have a Google number as well for my business. Only issue is on the phone you do not know who is calling you. For example, it only shows the number calling, you do not know if they are calling your personal number or the Google number. I wish their was a way to know before answering. Other than that, it works great and with a Google number I can add more forwarding phones, so my wife and oldest daughter get ringed too. This is a great feature as if I am in the middle of something and can’t answer, it rings on all three of our phones, so someone is going to answer and no call goes unanswered with a potential client moving on to another provider.
On a Google number you have voice mail and text as well that can be sent to your e-mail transcribed (some time the transcription is a bit off, but you usually get the general idea of what the message is) as well as a log of all incoming calls to that number. Plus it is free (or at least for me since I use GSuite).

im in the same boat. ive lived in the nashville area for a few years now but kept my chicago number. i have a google number for another business (haunted house) which works fine, EXCEPT trying to return calls. outgoing calls will show your actual phone number. ive read somewhere that you can get a “google voice” app that you can dial out of…but not sure if you can add contacts in it or if it offers a “return call” option. there are some other options out there, pay for services…but they limit you on certain things and almost makes it seem easier to just get a whole nother line and phone all together.

will continue to follow this post for more info. i REALLY wish the dual-sim/e-sim would be come a reality…would make it alot easier

I’m doing the dual sim on my phone now. Ported over my number from grasshopper. Too many dropped calls and telemarking seemed worse.

You can change it in your settings to show your google voice number when someone is calling. This way you know how to answer the call. If you need to find their number later you just have to go into the App.

Yeah your Google voice will show up on their caller ID. You’ll have to tweak some settings when you first set it up. I like that I can screen my calls, voice mails in text form and my wife can answer calls and text on her phone too in case I can’t answer.

Sideline is cheap and effective.100$ a year I belive. You can set a seperate ringtone, auto respond to texts, and has it’s own voicemail as well.

I use godaddy SmartLine. $5/month. No complaints. It’s feature packed, reliable, and certainly serves its purpose. My SmartLine, website, and crm are under $50 combined.

We have multiple Voipo phone numbers routing through a Ringcentral account where you press 1 for sales, press 2 for all other inquiries.

The reason we do this is because we get slammed with Robocalls, like 10-20 a day, every day. Its a side effect of proper SEO and visibility. Robots don’t know to press 1, so none of them get through :). Also, when you press 2 it goes direct to voicemail, where our message is very clear that “We don’t to business with phone solicitors of any kind. If you are a solicitor, please hang up now”.

Its so nice and quiet and productive when you’re not diving for BS calls all day, and only costs $60 a month. Well worth it.

Hey @ChrisG-Canada whereabouts in SW Ontario are you located?

I use a google number as well,I just set it up for the caller to say their name when they call the google # ,easy way to separate business calls from personal.

Does it seem to work well? I have 2 phones but it would be nice to only have one. How do u know which number people are calling

I haven’t had any problems with it. Only had it briefly. I can tell when it’s the business calling because it shows the business number. I’m still playing with it. I think there’s a setting where it can show the incoming number but have a secondary icon. I changed the icon to say business. I like it because of the reliability of a second Verizon phone but one physical phone. I know there’s other ways to have a second number through internet providers and apps. My experience with them has not been the best. Btw, I added a line and received (on the way) a $150 visa gift card. Paying for the reliability of a second line is worth it to me.

I would so much like that…I get tons of BS calls a day.
Will look into it. Thanks for the tip!

Happy Washing!

What are the features with your GoDaddy Smartline?

Well since this thread started I have had nothing but problems with Google Voice. I also bought a new Android LG phone. Either way I need a new VOIP for my phone. I was leaning hard towards Grasshopper and Line 2. I just saw @ExpertPowerWash said he was getting a lot of dropped calls. Do you live in an area with bad 4G or cell service? Do you know what contributed to it? Anyone recommend something where my wife and and I can have both our phones ring and both see texts from customers?
