Just caught up on this thread. That is one beautiful truck build! I have passed the tipping point of PW to WC jobs this year finally. I started by quitting doing storms, then stopped all jobs that required high interior ladder work. Then quit doing any interiors that requires moving ANY furniture. Now, the only interior windows I do are easy peasy. More money, less headache for sure.

what about bringing the pressure washer to the outside and fit two tool boxes maybe with a bit more depth either side of the pressure washer, will give you the space you need and make it easier to start / fill the machine ect.

I have bags on my Tacoma and it still doesn’t like it when I throw a loaf of light bread in the bed :slight_smile: it will however, back a raft into a swampy river and not get stuck :slight_smile:

I have been getting some pretty awesome fuel mileage with Chuck lately. My average all summer has been right around 18.5 mpg. This tank is off to a good start:

I attribute the fuel efficiency to the Orange Virus Tune, higher tire pressures (~37F/42R) and being fanatical about using non-ethanol gas. I will even top off my gas can and pressure washer before filling the truck, just to clear any ethanol fuel from the pump.

Non ethanol gas is a big one. It’s amazing to me that those smaller trucks don’t get any better fuel mileage than the full size pickups do.

My first gen xB averaged 27-28 with with all my window cleaning stuff and a ladder or two on the roof rack. It would drop to 22-24 or so pulling my little pw trailer. I loved that little car, and it got tons of compliments.

The 2nd gen would only average 23-24 at best with my basic wc equipment, and would drop well below 20 pulling the pw trailer.

I hated the 2nd gen. It looked and drove way too much like a minivan. And the drive-by-wire truly sucked to use in a stickshift car.

It’s finally happening. Took the back seats out, and preparing to build some shelving in this space. Let me know if you have any suggestions for me :slightly_smiling_face:

Do the back doors open to a full 90 degrees? My BIL had a truck with a crew cab and we took the back seat out and built shelving, but at the bottom we did drawers that slid out once the back door was open. That made a lot of space that was easy to get too, especially for small stuff

Another idea you might try is a sliding drawer that you put fishing boxes in, or even a compartment on top in the middle where it is hard to reach. These are great for small parts, even small squeegee channels and rubbers. Search Plano 3700 boxes.

What are you thinking you are. going to store back there? Your window stuff?

@bubbad2u has a good idea with the sliding drawer. You should check out the Weather guard RatPack’s and see if they sell one that fits in your space. They’re expensive but very well built and you’ll probably never wear one out.

What do you plan on keeping in there? I quite like the ones below, semi permanent and strong. image image
