Hy-conn garden hose quick connector

Plus one. The plumbing on my trailer is something like:

Hose reel (with MrCoupler on end of hose)
full port ball valve
banjo y strainer
water meter (I like to know how much water I’m using)
buffer tank
second y strainer
machine

Can I ask what the full port ball valve is? Is there a reason you use a banjo y strainer rather then any other filter?

Full port just means that the hole in the ball is the same ID as the pipe, so no restriction.

Awhile back everyone and their grandma were recommending the Y-strainers. Not really sure what the advantages are supposed to be, lol.

Now that were getting off subject a little what size pipe you guys running from your buffer tank to your pressure washer? Im running a one inch T to 3/4 hose. One side has a few feet then ends up at the machine and the other is for dumping the water before leaving. For some reason I feel I should beef up the plumbing and go to two inch at least.

For my 8gpm 2 inches all the way.
For my 4gpm from 2 to 1.
I can ran them both together off the 2" buffer outlet

I have a filter at the hose reel too.

Picked up a bunch of sprinkler system filters for $5 each on clearance. I’m never running out of filters.

I’m running 1” for my 5.5gpm machine. When I was setting it up, I think I tested at over 9gpm open/gravity flow. So at least for my particular layout, 1” would be sufficient for a 8gpm machine. But I think most guys who build rigs recommend 1.5” or larger for 8gpm

If that’s where water is incoming your filter is backwards.

Just an update. These are available from eBay. $10 for 2 including shipping.

Sweet. Just bought two sets. Only two left!

Just picked up a set on eBay. I hate screwing my hose onto a spigot. I’ve cut my finger before on them. I remember seeing this fireman on shark tank years ago and thought it was a good idea.

They sucked, at least for me

I’m gonna give those garden hose camlocks a shot instead.

I would like to use this for my roof setup to bypass running the chemicals thru the reel. How well do you think this valve would hold up to a 50/50 mix? Do you know the material of the valve/gasket?

It says in the description it’s poly propylene, which is no different than most banjo locks and as long as you flush it you should get a couple years out of it. Depending on what the actual valve is made out of of course. May as well try it.

The black glass filled poly propylene banjo locks are what I use on the entire roof pump set up minus the valve of course. Why do you want the valve?

My reel is leaking at the swivel so I want to bypass it. Its a cheap garden hose reel. I knew it would happen eventually. I will purchase a new reel this week after some research but I may try to bypass the reel on the new one as well. I’m not very good about flushing 200’ of hose. Not very good as in do not do it. I did however install a 3way valve on the suction line so I’m able to at least flush the pump.

Hey @squidskc, could you link to the camlocks you use? I am in the process of putting together a 12v roof system and am unsure what ones to use. Thank you!

They’re banjo polypropylene cam locks from US plastics but I can’t find them at the moment on their site. I’m away from home and the shop at the moment or I’d look in the dultmeier catalog. You’ll need barbed and threaded of various sizes depending on how you plumb it so it’s probably a good idea to search for it at zoro, US Plastics, Dultmeier, and one more I’ll think of shortly.
