How are you guys answering the phone?

Just whack him over the noggin with your walker.

Oh God donā€™t even get me started. Almost had to go fisticuffs with a FedEx guy a couple years ago. Dude did a 19 point turn around on my pressure hose after I just asked him to try to avoid it. Guy was an absolute menace.

did you show him your cauliflower ear? most people dont mess with people with cauliflower ears

Pfft. That was the least of his worries. I had these bad boys on:

Did you get to try them ears on yet? How are they working out? I either need to order some new memory foam tips for my old ones or splurge on the fancy ones like you have.

I like them with the caveat that I havenā€™t used them while working. I like them quite a bit. The anc isnā€™t that great and the app is really outdated but Iā€™m chomping at the bit to test them in the field. I get off this Friday and have like 9 jobs to do on my 2 weeks off so far. This might be a busy summer for me. Gonna take a few months vacation and see how this goes!

Good stuff! Youā€™re gonna be an even more popular man here soon, sounds like. I didnā€™t even know there was such an app nor do I care to get such a thing but the comfort of the blue tips is solid gold. They feel like ear plugs & protect the ears while sounding fancy in the process. I may get a fresh set soon anyway but my crappy old ones are still working like new after almost 2 years of abuse.

Thanks for the recommendation. Just ordered a pair. Only thing Iā€™m nervous about is fitment. I have small ear canals and most earbuds are torture after 30 minutes or so. Iā€™m hopeful that the foam buds will negate that issue. (Worst case, Iā€™ll order some of those custom-molded earplug kits and diy some new buds for it.)

Edit, to answer the OPā€™s question:

I have a voicemail greeting that directs people to text or email for a faster response, requesting their address and photos if possible. (This is surprisingly effective for my market; a large percentage of callers will send an email or text shortly after calling.)

I try and answer local calls whenever Iā€™m in a good position to do so. (ā€œInfinity Maintenance, this is Alex. How can I help you?ā€) Have a brief convo about their needs, then ask if theyā€™re able to text photos along with their address. I try and return quotes within 24 hours.

I spent the coins on a fancy set of Jabras a while back. Yep, about 30 minutes was all I could handle. I have the JLab Airsports without ANC. Almost 2 years now & the battery life is starting to get shorter so I may just have to get the fancy ones soon with the crazy long battery life. I can wear these all day. Soft as gummy bears.

Did try them ears on yet? Iā€™ve considered getting the fancy ones like you guys have. I should probably update them soon either way.

Iā€™ve been liking them so far. Still havenā€™t used them to answer any calls, but hopeful theyā€™ll be clearer than my old Marshall bluetooth headphones, or talking directly through my bulky waterproof case.

The foam ear tips were actually too big. But the smallest silicone ones seem ok so far. Still havenā€™t trialed them all day.

Trying to decide what balance I want between the noise canceling and the ā€œbe awareā€ settings. They kind of seem to defeat each other, to an extent. The ā€œbe awareā€ doesnā€™t appear to discriminate what kind of noises it lets through. All background noises seem to be treated equally (though Iā€™m hoping it has a dB cutoff to still protect hearing?). But I guess I was expecting too much from $90 headphones. That kind of selective noise canceling where peopleā€™s voices come through without anything else is probably a $300+ Bose feature, lol.

But yeah, Britt snuck up on me last night while I was working on the rig, and scared the living daylights outta me. I turn around and sheā€™s just there. Thanks, JLAB! :joy:

You know I was thinking about that myself.

I have a pair of these impact sports electronic shooting muffs that amplify ambient sound but cut off higher decibels. I wonder if they would work. I got them for like 30 bucks. Link just to show the model.

Havenā€™t answered the phone with them but have drug them through the woods all over Alaska hunting and they have gotten rained on, sweated in, etc and keep on ticking.

Iā€™ll try them out and get back to you.

Or a feature on AirPod pros. :grimacing:

A friend told me they were the best thing ever. Didnā€™t believe him until I bought a pair. Itā€™s pretty impressive.

There are three options: regular, transparency (let voices through), and noise canceling.

Nothing like what youā€™d use/expect for using at a gun range but impressive nonetheless.

No Apple headphones have ever fit in my ears right. They all fall out. Glad they work for you, though :+1:t2:

The pros come with different size silicone tips so you can have a perfect fit for your ear.

Iā€™d still be nervous about losing one without any kind of ear-loop or cord.

Thought I lost my Leatherman yesterday. Drove myself crazy looking for it. I canā€™t imagine trying to track down a $100 earbudā€¦ :joy:

Oh, wait, appleā€™s probably got some tracking app, too :sweat_smile:

It not only has that, it also has a remote shut off for the SH built in.
