House washing questions and pricing?

I didn’t see your machine post. You are persistent so I hope that means you are going to stick to this. At least 10 new people a month pop up on these boards every month, ask a million questions and are gone the next. It gets old and I get grumpy. I don’t apologize for anything but send me your address and I’ll have some elemanator drop shipped to you. Mix it with bleach and you can clean 99% of siding on the market.

@Burj74 IBS is correct on the searching part. Just type in house wash mix in search, I believe it’s like the 1st one on top, there are lots of info in that one. I used to use dawn with my SH until I got on here and read a lot and found where ppl said DONT use dawn, I stopped right then and asked what to replace it with. I read a lot of ppl talking about Eliminator, now I DS 10% SH with Eliminator mixed in. But I’m mainly washing vinyl houses that’s 90% of houses in my area so easy mixture for me. But may not be best for u on brick house IDK.

That one on top has a lot of info

Thanks y’all. I’m definitely not someone to give up on something, especially when I’ve put literally every penny I have into it. So I’ll apologize if I came off wrong, but I’ll defend myself and my business until I’m red in the face. I know I have a lot to learn and I’m trying to learn as much as I can quickly. Like alex said there’s a lot of conflicting information, and i can’t trust everything I read on the internet. I’m also the kind of person who wont buy something unless I know I’ll be 100% satisfied with the results. Hence why I didn’t go on a shopping spree.

Ive been pressure washing for a little over a year (flat surface only) working for another guy. He kept all his chemicals in black jugs maked concrete, algae / mold etc. I knew when to use them but no idea what they were. Then all of a sudden he disappeared and moved to away. No idea where, never called or texted. Just vanished. I had no idea how to do quotes, or chemicals to use, but I understood the process. So it was either go find another job, or try to start my own. I pulled all my cash out and went and bought the best equipment i could afford. I know it’s not top notch The guy I bought from was pretty helpful but he is a competitor in my area, so I took his advice with a grain of salt. So here I am, I’ve put everything I have into this and I cannot fail. I will not.

I really shouldn’t give any advice but how about go talk to a local shop that sales pressure washing equipment and chemicals. Tell them the truth about your experience and they will probably help you out. They want customers just like you. Just don’t show up at their busiest time and expect alot of one on one. When you are done getting answers buy something they recommended and it doesn’t have to be a machine. Good luck.

Don’t carry around black jugs. Label everything and carry a MSDS binder with all your chems.

Speaking for myself. I down stream out of a 5gal bucket which fill with 5gals of 10% SH=bleach and then I now add 6oz of ELEMONATOR that’s my house mix that’s really all the info I can give u. I buy my sh from a pool supply store. I only use 10% bc I can find 12.5% and what I could find I’m not paying $8 a gal.

zfranks - I tried that, but really the only place in town that specializes in it make their own chems, and obviously they’re going to only sell me what they make. Although their equipment looks pretty damn good. I may be going to them to upgrade my trailer in the near future. http://www.pressure-washers-hotsy.com/

Innocentbystander - I honestly never even though of that. My trailer has black jugs labeled concrete, algae etc but theres nothing in any of them - but thats just what the previous owner had. Never thought of having an MSDS binder in my toolbox. probably should get on that haha

Spc - I have a downstream injector thats attached right after my pump. After reading thru the House wash mix thread, that cleared up a few questions. You’re saying throw the pick up tube directly into 10% SH and add elemonator? Dont dilute the bleach with water?

If you have someone that makes chems but from them. Don’t be a chemist. Support your local guy and biy from something that already has been tested and proven

Yeah, I’m going to call them. But I want to be an informed buyer as opposed to getting sold a chemical that is sub par to something else on the internet. I like having options and not walking in to a store and not really having a choice. Plus the store is like an hour and a half away, so I can’t exactly just stroll in and browse lol.

Yes I’m saying I down stream straight sh but like I said that’s just me. I tried 3 gals bleach to two gals water when I started and worked OK on one house but next house needed stronger so now I just DS straight.

Where are you located?

Dallas area

Has anyone used powerwash.com stuff? I just realized they’re 30 min from me. They seem pretty reputable.

That’ll work. They’ve got all kind of products and decent pricing. They’ll be a good resource for you.Read their blog too. Have some pretty good articles that will help you.

Roofsnot or elemonator? What do you all stick with for the all around surfactant. @Innocentbystander @Racer

Elemonator

Plus one on elemenator

Let me ask you guys something. If I completely undercharged someone (didn’t realize t at the time) and they now want the maintenance done every six months, how do you tell them that they were undercharged and that the price is going up?

If you have their number program it as DNA for do not answer. I have scores of those. Or just tell them whst the new price is. If they don’t like it, move on

It was absolutely easy money, but realized after the fact at how little I made. I’ll certainly take your advice of just tell them and go from there. Appreciate it.
