Hey guys, I’m in the market for another hot water machine and I’m contemplating which brand to get. Definitely getting an 8gpm I can’t live with anything less. I was looking at the Landa SLT but I don’t like the fact that it comes with the Honda gx630 instead of the 690. It’s also 5 grand more than the other one I’m looking at which is a Hydrotek. My question is will the Hydrotek actually reach 200 degrees like they claim and will it give me a few good years without major issues. I know the Landa has a far superior burner with almost 300ft of coil compared to 120 with the Hydrotek but I don’t use hot water every day and I don’t need it to last forever. I usually get new equipment every 2-3 years and if it really gets close to 200 degrees like it says and won’t give me any problems for a couple of years I will be happy. I made the mistake of buying a Pressure Pro 8gpm hot water machine and the hot water was very inconsistent and it topped out around 150.
Hydrotech are great machines. But lands is better. Lands spends big money on R&D . They have the most efficient coils on the market
Call you landa dealer and just have them swap out the 630 with a 690.
I’m loving my hydrotek. It gets hot fast. I’m sold on them. Mine is 5.5 gpm but it has a 546000 btu rating. I’ve had landas and they’re great but I’ll put hydrotek up against any of them for the dollar value
They will but I just can’t justify the extra cost if I can get a machine to perform close to it even if it doesn’t last as long. Maybe in a couple years when I feel like dropping 15k on a single machine but I don’t finance anything for my business and that’s just going to dig a little too deep into my savings than I would feel comfortable doing right now. I’d rather save the extra and put that towards marketing.
That makes me feel better. The 5.5’s are supposed to get even hotter than the 8’s but I’m so spoiled with the extra volume that I’m miserable using anything less.
If we don’t build another trailer this summer I’ll probably upgrade this one to an 8 gpm just like it. I got mine from Shaun at the power wash store in Nashville and have been extremely pleased with their customer service. My 8 gpm cold water unit has me spoiled to. I have a k7 unloader on my hydrotek and love it so much I’m going to put one on my water dragon
She’s a beauty!! Love the SS frame
I admire anyone who operates a business debt free. However, there can be advantages to using credit in your business. One of them being, buying equipment that will last more than just a couple years.
The fact you do have enough savings to buy something, negates the risk associated with using credit.
When it comes to business purchases, I’m of the mind that if I have the cash to pay for something, but I can get someone else to loan me the money at a very low interest rate, then I’m better off keeping my cash in the bank and using someone else’s money for that purchase.
Don’t forget, a $15k purchase could reduce your taxes by $5k or more. That’s additional cash that you could keep in the bank.
Just my 2¢
Thanks. Me to. Even though it is a 12 volt system it was worth it for the smaller footprint. I just make sure my battery stays hot. I’ve never had a stainless unit before but I like it
+1 Using credit to grow!
There’s way’s of using credit… But if one is smart about purchases and knowing how to blance (need vs want) it can be a key to growing a business…
Now if your stacking up dept out of control, Advertising on a credit card and letting it pile! Your headed for disaster!
I agree and I may still do that but I hate payments especially during the winter. I thought about doing a 4 month payment plan on the Landa that way it’s paid off quick. I just don’t know if there’s enough difference in the machines to justify a 5 k difference. The Hydrotek already comes with the motor I want and has a lifetime warranty on the coils. If it really gets up to that temp then I can buy it without breaking a sweat and not have to worry about financing. Payments add up and I just bought a 60k truck with $700 a month payments and another $200 for insurance. That and the wife wants to break ground on a custom built home this year and a bigger shop.
Ahh, I hear ya. I wouldn’t want anyone to overextend themselves by taking my advice. I was going on the assumption that you didn’t have any debt (apart from a mortgage, perhaps).
I don’t like payments in the winter, either.
This is going a tiny bit off topic, but I’ll mention our strategy towards buying on credit: I got a business credit card with 0% for 12 months. All the equipment and other expenses related to Truck Norris is going on the card. We’ll just pay the minimum on the card until April or May when money starts pouring in. Then we’ll double down and get it paid off by the end of the busy season.
We’ve used this strategy in past years, and it’s worked out well.
Go with the Hydrotek, you’ll be fine. But then I’ve not had any problem with my PP, but I really never run it above 165 so don’t know if it’ll get to 200 or not. What are you cleaning that you need that temp?
That’s been my experience with pressure pro as well. It’s not inconsistent but the temp is no where near what the hotsy is was. It gets the job done, but if I had to do it again I would spend the extra $2000 for the hydrotek
My opinion:
Personal debt of any kind= stupid
Business debt used responsibly to account for no more than 10% of your total annual outflow especially if reported to Dun & Bradstreet=beautiful
I don’t think I will need every bit of it but I have a couple restaurant chains that I do all of their drive throughs and dumpster pads monthly. You would be surprised how much oil leaks on the drive throughs then gets on the tires and all over the curb. I also do the roofs of 17 steakhouses in NC and they get an incredible amount of soot on the metal and rubber roofs. I don’t think I would over extend myself with either machine. I could pay cash for either one but money goes quick so I like to have as much cushion as possible. I’ve made a lot of money with 4K machines that held up to extreme work so I don’t feel like I should overpay for a name. Machines are disposable if I can get a few years out of a 8k machine I couldn’t care less what happens after that. But I would be pissed if I buy a machine that has downtime the first year or two.
I agree. I figure $10 hour depreciation on my 8gpm so after 350 hours I’m golden. It’s all gravy after that. Varies with each piece.
If you want consistent and continuous 200 degrees go with landa. Which hydro tek are you looking at? There’s a simple equation to calculate temp rise based on gpm and btu input.
It’s 7.7gpm and 550,000 btu. The Landa is 730,000 btu. I’m interested to see how the hydrotek compares to PressurePro but I couldn’t find the BTU rating for pp.
