Hose unroll all the way?

I had that problem with the ‘smooth’ pressure hose. Now I have the rougher textured and it doesn’t bird nest

I hate wrapped hoses! They don’t drag/pull like a smooth cover

I bet 1/4 pressure hose would bird nest like heck ! @dperez

Nope I’ve never seen a hose do that

Locking the reel isn’t the problem. When the pressure builds in the hose it expands and stiffens, then separates itself from the neatly coiled reel.

Like I said, I’ve tried everything I can think of.

You have a cheap reel or aren’t locking the reel is my guess.

How many times are you gonna ask if I have a cheap reel?

It’s a Titan stainless 12".

That is a cheap real, according to Sir Grump. It has a pvc drum, and no Hannay logo on the side… :man_shrugging::rofl:

I have Titan reels, and will get some bird-nesting occasionally, as well. No way to lock the motorized reels (I suppose I could order a replacement lock assembly from Titan). I just try and take off as much hose as possible if I’m doing anything more than washing a few screens.

I think having a flow unloader with a properly balanced bypass line to limit kick also helps.

Thanks, thought I was going nuts with this. A K7 would probably fix the birdsnesting, maybe next year.

@dperez what’s a wrapped hose?

It’s not really wrapped it’s melted a bit and stamped with a wrap look

Wrapped hose

Smooth cover

As promised, I managed to get a pic of my hose unwrapping. Reel is locked, roughly 100’ left out of 200’.

It appears to be coming loose due to slack. If you can tieoff the hose right as it comes off spool, Im sure it would cease. I suggest a bungee cord. I

Mine does the same thing Locked or not. So now I just unroll the whole thing and just deal with it. Only takes a few minutes to roll it all back up.

For you penny pincher ppl. Its better to unwrap it all, think about it …

Just kinda sucks when you have a small driveway job 30’ away, 200’ of hose really gets awkward. I may try a strong clamp when I get a chance.

I don’t run the gray hose ,So I can’t contribute to your problem, if its rolled straight and tight and locked, we have no problem with our black hoses, We only unroll a little bit as needed for a quick, we missed something gotta fix it situation. other than that, All 300’ comes off of both machines …That’s just the way it is…
