Hose unroll all the way?

Do y’all pull trigger before starting ? @Innocentbystander

No. The trigger is 250 away when we start. We stretch hose as far as possible, pull choke, turn the key. Choke a 690 where it’s hot or cold, keeps stupid fuse from popping as often.

Thought so. Thank you @Innocentbystander . Works for me.

This. If you crank the key on the V-Twins with the ball valve closed you’re in for a bad time. Mine builds pressure instantaneously and will completely stop the motor from turning over.

If you took that ball valve and threw it in a pond it would be over less thing for you to ever have to worry about. Just saying.

LOL I’ll admit that I took your advice and stopped using it for rinsing and pre-treating drives. I only use it to start, stop and switch to SC now.

So you do use the ball valve for starting and stopping? I just learned that way and been doing it ever since. I have a k7 unloader and a bypass but didn’t know if the bypass worked immediately and or worked well enough to keep ball valve closed. I usually unroll the whole hose and lay the open ball valve somewhere safe close to the engine. Start it, close it and connect the gun or sc then go to town.

I think what I’m gonna do is continue with my same practice but not trip on not unrolling the hose all the way in the little times here and there when I just need a tiny bit to finish something easy. Just want to maximize the life of my equipment. Not that much work to do those things anyway especially with this new electric rewind reel coming Monday! However from what I’ve read from the OG’s I’ll probably look back at it with regret. Hopefully if I can put the solenoid parts in a waterproof area it will extend the life of them…

I don’t know what you guy’s method is, but every time I unroll half my 200’, no matter if it’s locked or cranked down, my hose ‘birds nests’ like a baitcaster hitting a tree stump.:flushed:

Same! I have to either press the gun while crancking or leave my BV open for it not to build pressure so damn quick

@dcbrock

You gotta ride your thumb on the hose reel while your washing

Are you running a cheap reel?

Stainless steel Titan.

What size reel are you running? Do you have springs on it so it will not free spool

It is a 16", and has those crank down wingnut ‘brakes’ to keep it from freewheeling. I’ve tried everything I can think of.

I’ll have to check the width later, not positive on that size.

Do you unload it of the top or the bottom of the reel

Sorry, it measures 12" between flanges.

The hose rolls from the top.

Can you post pictures of it rolled and birdsnest

Yeah when I get a chance.
