Hose Ends - What Do You Do?

First off - a big g shoutout to Racer for making the time to read & answer several PM’s from me.
Very knowledgeable and I’m grateful for his honesty!

Hose Ends: I hate hose clamps on any hose and been looking at a hose crimper tool to compress brass ferrules over barb ends.

The Dixon 860 crimper is for larger ferrules but each size needs due sold separately for $30 ea.
How have you guys been attaching fittings to your hoses?

If you’re referring to high pressure temporary crimp fittings, I stay away. High pressure hoses are consumables and just plan to replace them as they burst.

If you’re talking hose clamps for low pressure and suction applications hose clamps are just fine. Get the nicer stainless one and you’ll be ok

Yeah sorry, I meant for soft wash hose, water supply garden hose, sh mix hose for roof washing. Not the high pressure hoses.

I’ve gotten a fair number of cuts with the ss hose clamps and they catch on clothes etc. The factory type crimped look better and seem safer (although the initial investment is pricy)!

For in the field serviceability, hose clamps will be much better.

get the wide banded SS T clamps. that and a heart gun should make you leak free and things will still be serviceable.

Some people swear by the Band-it Junior tool and the preformed hose clamps. Kinda pricey, but a nice, low profile, permanent solution.

Interesting!
Thanks for the reply.

Never knew about these. I’ll look into them.
Thanks!

We use the single ear clamps in house, and keep standard screw style hose clamps on all the trucks for quick field repairs.

Just got in an iCrimp set with an assortment of clamps. Gonna try these on 12v hose and my garden hose feed line. Figure a double clamp on each fitting will hold. If so, I’ll cover with wide shrink wrap. If not, I can return.

Thanks for your feedback!
