And the bed every 3 years when it rusts out. Or the transmission. Or the PASS ignition system…
I owned a Chevy for 9 months and spent more in repairs than payments.

Im a ford guy too. I took your advice and ran mobil one 15,000 mile oil. Im at 8,000 and i am already dieing to change it added half a quart the other day and oil was black. So ill change it when my back is better. How long do you run it?
I need one. Maybe I can use yours when I come up to clean the shop and claim my SchertzBox
When I was traveling cross country I’d go every bit of 15,000-20,000 miles on a change.
Black oil is good. It means it’s encapsulated the bad deposits.
First few changes do 6-9k miles. Then I’d do every 10k
Where you live I think everything rusts. I’d have to add it up but over my last three trucks they probably add up to over a million miles and all of them were running like a top when I sold them. Maybe you weren’t holding your tongue in the right spot!
To each their own lol
No, it’s a 2011 model with 120k miles on it. So it’s got the 6.0. But 1 owner and truly looks like new. I’ve been looking for a clean long bed for awhile. Parked it next to the Avalanche in the drive and the Avalanche looked like a sports car next to it.
Black oil means it’s cleaning. If it came out looking like honey then I’d be worried. I used Mobil 1 for years but it seems to burn off about a half a quart between changes. I switched to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum for the wife’s turbo car and run it in the truck too. Hasn’t burned a drop in either of them. The car is almost 70k now and the truck just rolled 29k.
You want something with a good NOACK rating and the Pennzoil was at the top. NOACK refers to volatility and vaporization. The higher the number the less burn off it has.
We have a 3500 Chevy diesel on the fire department as a brush truck. Has a heavy utility bed and a 300 gallon tank.
I hate to admit this but that thing loaded with water and equipment will spank any ford I’ve ever sat in.
Heck it would have held it’s own against my old LT1 firebird.
Cant wait to see your build.
Your gonna love the tow/haul button, like having a Jake brake when you tap the brakes,or let off the gas on a decline
You should be able to run the corn syrup in that thing too! I can smell it now
It’s got the trailering package and the extra load deal on it. Can carry like 3500 lb payload and pull about 10k. Nothing compared to the diesel on towing. The new diesels have like almost 700 lbs of torque.
I know it will go from 0 to 110 with a bed full of water!
Tell me about it, glad to have on the Avy when I’m pulling a 7000 lb trailer. That braking function is a lifesaver sometimes.
Try over 900 ft lbs. Dodge and Ford claim higher but GM has outperformed on every real world test I’ve ever seen. Higher dyno numbers and The Fastlane Truck runs all of them through Ike’s gauntlet and the GM’s absolutely smoke the others. And look better doing it.
How much of that truck did the government pay for though
Aren’t you like some sort of safety guy or something? I wish I still had my old phone. My buddy that was a safety guy in the oilfield was also a lunatic on two wheels. He’d yank his Kawasaki ZX10R up on one wheel at 90mph and stand on one foot and wave at cars as he passed them.
At least he wore a helmet.
You crash a bike at 90 and a helmet just means open casket!
Do as I say and not as I do lol
