After spending hours yesterday morning trying to get the pulley off the Honda I called it and made a 3 hour round trip to buy a new pulley. Got it on the predator and realize that it doesn’t line up exactly right on the skid so I spent an hour trying to get the alternator belt to fit while also lining up the bolt holes. Wasn’t happening but then I realized I didn’t need to run the alternator if I don’t use the generator or burner. So I get the predator all hooked up and go to tighten the belts and the pump won’t budge. Spent an hour trying to fix it then called it a night. This morning I realized that there’s a jam nut on the other side of the tensioner bolt. Put a wrench on that and I was able to unscrew the bolt all the way. Turns out it the tip had worn down so it wouldn’t catch. Put in a new bolt and boom, belts tighten. Ran the predator for an hour and it works just fine!
If it lasts me a month while I get the Honda fixed I’ll be happy lol.
Big thanks to @Innocentbystander and his Landa dealer Nick. Both very friendly and helpful guys. Also thanks to @SchertzServicesLLC for taking my call and answering a question about the predator. And thanks to @dperez for those videos and @Hotshot and everyone else who chipped in with suggestions and advice.
Was a very frustrating few days and I’m sure if I try to fix the governor it’ll be a frustrating few weeks but I’m back in action now.
For future reference:
the hydro-tek ez tensioner system has a jam nut that you have to hold to unscrew the tensioner bolt
if you can’t tighten your belts you probably just need to replace the tensioner bolt
a predator will fit in the spot your Honda is on a hydro-tek hot water skid, but you have to take the throttle lever off and let it hang on the side, and you’ll probably need a slightly bigger 5l belt for your alternator.
you can run the machine without a belt on the alternator if you only need cold water
I give guys grief because most are lazy, won’t work on their own stuff out all stupid questions. You are none of those. Hats of for pushing thru and sincerely happy you are up and running again
Hats off here as well my friend. Glad to see real men working and fixing there own. I thought it was ahh lost art. You’ve proven me wrong @pressureguy. Nice job sir. Well done
Enjoy it while it lasts.

Just remember, with children, everything is a phase.
God Bless you and yours.
Nice to see you back on the road. I hope you anti-seized it up really good before reinstalling it. I’m glad you didn’t crack it pulling it in on the new engine.
Well I managed to get the whole deal off so it shouldn’t be as hard as I thought. Burner’s not firing and I’m getting no power at the plugs so I was trying to move the alternator to tighten the belt. Snapped the tensioner rod.
