Today was my first roof using a 5850 pump set up from Pressure Tek. There were a few minor issues but overall worked out really well. Saved me probably 5 hours over just pressure washing. Here are some pics:

That roof looks great! What kind of issues did you have? I am considering buying on of the 5850’s and would like to maybe get some first-hand advice on what to expect. Thanks!
Expect to be impressed. Use it on a couple of roofs and then upgrade to the FatBoy pump. The most important accessory for a 12v roof pump is the spare pump that you always carry with you.
The only real issue was that I did not get a drop stick and so the siphon hose was floating to the top of my chemical and then sucking air. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN as it is a pain to get going again. Other than that it was just ladder positioning and not paying attention to wind direction (I will now always set up my ladder up wind and will spray down wind as not to have blowback).
In the end I will for sure say that this pump is great for someone who only does a couple roofs a year.

I’ve been using the 5850 pump since last summer. It’s served me well. Doesn’t easily reach everything, but pretty stinkin’ close.
I like your advice, Tim Fields, to have a spare.
I know I looked for videos all over the place prior to getting the fatboy pump. I here’s something I recorded to put on my business’s FB page. Next roof I get I’ll do a video showing how far it sprays. Most roofs I can spray the peaks from a ladder and don’t have to walk on these slippery tile roofs in FL
Part 1
I plan on having a video of my 1" AODD pump and air compressor dedicated roof pump system on here soon. This system is capable of over 30 gpm but can be throttled down to a fine mist with no negative impact on the pump.
This first video is the compressor. The second video is the pump. The ac is the large Harbor Freight model. Believe it or not this unit is pretty highly rated on another forum and the price is fantastic even after buying 2 year extended replacement warranty. It is 14 hp, 30 gallon tank and about 19 cfm at 90. This thing is a beast! It puts out more air than you can imagine and with my huge 1" pump I can literally pump a 53 gallon drum dry in less than 2 minutes. Will I need this capability on most jobs? Certainly not, but when I need it I will have it and virtually nothing is out of my reach from a ladder or the ground for that matter.
It is easy to make your own drop sticks… Take some pvc pipe with a dremel tool and cut some small cuts so no trash can get to your pump. I added some 1 1/2 pac pipe over my hose to hold the drop stick down in my tank. I run a 1" AODD pump as well and i love it. It can spray about 50’ all day with out any problems
ClaytonK I have a Ingersoll Rand 13 HP 30 gallon @ 90 psi I have 24 cfm. I only got this one because it was a great deal otherwise I was going to get the Harbor Freight air compressor. I know a lot of roof cleaners that use them and swear by them. I run a Yamada 1" Kynar AODD pump for the last year and haven’t had one problem yet. At the end of each day i run fresh water through the whole system to flush it out even though it is a Kynar pump. Any question on setting it up feel free to ask, glad to help…
