I have 3 Hannay reels.
All with stainless insides, 5000psi rattings, electric. I did my research and adyer reading reviews and opinions from people that had them for years I chose this e1526-17-18hsmss.
So i guess what im going to do is run two 50ft sections on the reel. For now. And ill use a QC on the line going into the reel. If all i need is that 50ft for the entire job i can then unhook from the other 50 feet and go direct into the whip line in order to protect the other line from jumping around everytime im on and off the trigger. Yes?
That really makes zero sense, but do what makes you happy
What makes zero sence? Its what the guy on here last night was saying, and other people. Personally ide rather roll the hose out and blow water like you said but lots of people are saying all kinds of different things about that so im just looking at this and that. Ill be fine. Eventually. This is like music. Everyone plays the note different and in the end everyone has their own approach that works for them. The beauty is hearing all the different opinions and using that and experience to form your own. You guys rock.
You asked, I told you what I would do. You’re method makes no sense. I only do things that I think are right, are the most effective and make the most money. Others, including you, can do whatever you like, it doesn’t make it the correct way though.
I started out rolling up hoses by hand (no regrets) so anything is progress from there. I have 5, 50 foot sections on the pressure reel but I don’t use the reel plumbing. I roll off whatever I need & attach it to the DS injector / unloader. It literally takes 10 seconds once it’s rolled off, which is less time than it takes to run the soap out of a 250 foot hose. I also turn the soap on / off a little early to make up for the delay. Most jobs need 100 or 150. 200 happens & 250 isn’t unheard of. I also have 2, 100 footers handy from when I first started. I had a job last year that needed all 450. The cool part: it still pulled soap just fine at the end of all that hose. But I’d much rather run a shorter hose when it’s an option because they perform differently. “Do what makes you happy” is by far the best advice in the thread.
Using a garden hose reel, I keep both a 100-ft and a 50-ft high pressure hose on there. They are both set up with quick connects and neither are plumbed through the reel. I pull off the reel my 100-ft section first and if that is enough I’ll leave the remaining 50-ft section on the reel. If I need all 150-ft of hose (most common for my washes) then I pull it all off. Regardless, I just attach the end of the hose to my 6-ft whip line and get to washing.
Thats what im saying
Rolling up hoses by hand is a pain. They dont exactly wrap like an extension cord where you can just twist them into shape. I found the best way to do it fast. I have a piece of velcro attached to the end. I make one wrap then velcro it. After that i can roll it like a human reel. Goes real fast. Stole that idea from 41 years of wrappung up thick stage lighting snakes that are thick 8 gauge cable.
I can roll up 50 foot pressure hoses in 30 seconds each, once I’ve got them stretched out. Just takes a little practice. 3/4 inch supply hoses will put up a fight with anybody, I believe. They don’t care what kind of reel you are using.
My Flexzilla 5/8 50ft rolls up on the reel like butter. Before that I had a 100ft 3/4 hose from harbor freight. Heavy duty. I didnt have a reel and that thing would wear out an MMA fighter. You cant kill that hose but it is not at all friendly so the first time i felt a flexzilla i went out and bought one the next day. But since I have the cheap ■■■ AAA pump i wish i would have bought a 3/4 as I dont trust that pump. It works fine and I baby it but I know their reputation. When it dies on me, not if, i cant really afford a Cat so I’ll probarbly replace it with a General pump.
I got 100ft of 5/8" flex hooked directly to my machine and so far so good with a cheap AAA pump i did chsnge the thermal valve out but thats cheap
Yeah hoping it lasts until i upgrade to a bigger setup instead of new pump scenario as well
So you are using a garden hose reel just to store the line and the machine is truck mounted next to it??
My thermal has been fine but the hot weather is not here yet so i keep an extra in the tool box. Im hoping to have the machine mounted in my enclosed trailer soon to keep it out of direct sunlight. Im an old cave diver so i firmly believe in extra everything for redundancy.
I have a 4gpm simpson engine and i have faith in it. But i have little faith in the AAA pump. I baby it. If im going to be off the trigger more than 10 seconds i disconnect and open ball valve. I stay on top of oil changes and use pump protecter after every time i start it. So far so good.
I see guys post all the time that they blow their AAA pumps up in one or two jobs. Its because they are amatures and leave it off the trigger for several minutes.
Yes I use twin wire 6000 rated to. Im sure it is going to last a long time. Your method of jumping to the whip via QC is what im likely going to when I buy the reels.
Yes, the high pressure hose is just stored on a garden hose reel. The supply hose is plumbed through the other garden hose reel and into pump via a leader hose after running through a cut off valve, a brass y valve, a filter, etc. Running just a 3.5gpm washer I’m not too terribly worried about water being restricted coming from the house spigot. I know the attached photos don’t show the route of the plumbing, but it shows where the reels are compared to the washer itself.
Yeah i hear that i got honda motor with same aaa pump lmao ive been off trigger for 30ish seconds sometimes but lately ive been disconnecting to ball valve if i gotta go from back yard to front and hose staying in rear especially if i have to turn off machine so no pressure build up witjout releasing when i click it off. Ive read others that still have there original pump on em 2 years in so who knows but def better safe then sorry
Just upgrade to a ZK1 unloader. There will be no jumping around with that. If you have a Pressure trapping unloader than you need to unroll the whole thing to avoid bird nesting
