Right, so for a hose reel where the switch is probably inches away from the motor, it seems like a solenoid is overkill. Just get a beefy momentary switch and have a spare on hand
Thank You!!
I have stacked Hannah reels (older) from a true green truck. I threw them in the corner of my
Shop because the wiring to the solenoid has me confused as crap. Going to order these buttons and direct wire to them.
I agree. You could do it with a heavy duty momentary weatherproof switch and it would definitely work@
I can help you figure out how to wire either the solenoids or the switches. Just let me know. I’ll be glad to help.
The solenoid is just a bigger switch turned on by a smaller switch so if you can wire the push button switch you can do the solenoid.
I’m going to try bypassing solenoid tomorrow. Would I put positive to one terminal and negative to other? Does it matter that 2 reels wired together (one would use solenoid other just switch)?
NOOOOOOO. Please dont do that. I’m driving and will edit in a minute.
Negative from the motor goes to the frame / ground. Positive goes to the switch. Then the other side of the switch goes to the positive on the motor. Most of the time the wires on the motor are not marked. Because they are reversible . You may have to use a battery to determine what wire is positive. It’s easy hook positive to one and negative to the other if it spins the direction you want it’s good. If not connected pos and neg. the opposite way
Exactly right. Interrupt the positive wire.
Haha not doing it now just wondering what to do tomorrow. Drive safe.
The term “ talk to me like I’m a 5 year old . Will serve you best when giving advice. It sounds like your fimiliar with wiring that’s awesome glad to have you here to help. But using terms like interrupt the positive will likely confuse as many as it helps
Ok. Take the itty bitty red pluseee wiry and use the white Elmer’s glue to stick it to the switchy and please stop gluing the cat to the table.
Point taken. I was trying to keep it simple but I’ll try harder to match the level of the questioner.
Hook up the wires so that the motor is spinning the way you want it to. Now cut the wire that is connected to the positive on your battery. Now connect the switch to the 2 ends you just cut apart.
Arkansas ‘lectric logic…
@PointExteriors, how did you ever make out with this?
Great. Thanks for asking. The solenoid started working without changing anything. So I am rocking it as is right now but I ordered the above mentioned switches to bypass the solenoid when it goes for good. I appreciate everyone ️ help
Awesome! Maybe you had a bad connection somewhere. You are now a beginner at electrical work! Great job man!
