Downstreaming Remote Controller

You’ll be out of luck on that one I’m guessing Alex, In the ECU and EFI world those spare pins on the flowpro you have would be called an input, an input is a trigger or sensor that sends back a data signal to an ecu to trigger a pre written command when all criteria is met like pressing the soap button in your case to bring rpm to 2500. The problem with OEM ecu’s is that they are specifically designed for the sensor and trigger sets that come with the engine and don’t have any additional pins to get a feed to the ecu from a none oem input or very limited scope for adjusting perimeters on the software side. splicing into existing inputs is also a no go. To really have full control of the engine you need an aftermarket ecu with a decent pin count for additional accessories. But this is just getting out of hand now lol.

Wow, that was an interesting read.

The last race car i had on a carb setup was in the late 90’s, once you go EFI you can’t go back to a carb. A lot has changed since then. You’ve got turbo 4 cylinder motors running 6 second passes down the strip now, back in the day that would be a blown alcohol v8 lol.

Fascinating stuff. Thanks for sharing!

I see that the igx motors use the J1939 standard, which is pretty universal for a lot of heavy equipment nowadays. But documentation is sorely lacking for Honda’s implementation of it.

I might contact the flowpro peeps and see if they can point me in the direction of some docs for the board they used. It just seems like there must be some interesting possibilities, here. Maybe not the throttle control I was thinking of, but… something. I might learn something new, at least🤷‍♂️

Edit: They sell can-bus shields for arduino. The arduino would probably have the inputs and outputs necessary to tap the signal from the remote control and then send the appropriate j1939 code to the motor to adjust the throttle, no?

I’ve played with the idea of a transmission of sorts based on pully size. You wouldn’t save ok gas though, which I imagine was a benefit your looking for.

I’ve thought for a long while someone needs to make a 2-speed gearbox. Put it on a gx390, and gear it for both 5@3000 and 8@1700.

Fuel consumption was one thought I had for my application. These igx’s are thirsty creatures, apparently. Running it at a lower speed for at least some of the time would probably help a little.

They sell a 12v clutch just for that reason. I think you just have to change a pulley. It idles it way down tho. You might be talking about different gears like a transmission just so you can kick the engine back just a little bit. Anways, here’s the link to that clutch. Scroll down past the gear box.

So I was thinking the other day. Can we put an x jet type fitting at the hose reel in place of a down streamer?? It wouldn’t go bad like downstream injectors do and it would give you the option to pull a much stronger mix if needed
What am I missing? Any reason this wouldn’t work?

Spring and ball

The spring and ball only shuts it of for high pressure. If we are switching to rinse with a 3 way or with a schertz box than is would work the same right?

My bad I get it now. Without the ball and spring it would spray everywhere when not on the gun duhh. Thanks IBS

There you go. I like it when folks figure it out.

There was talk awhile back about using a check valve in-line and removing the ball and spring. They’re supposedly getting more time out of the check valve. It might’ve been @Racer who did it.

I run a stainless injector with a check valve on my shertz box it works great

So do we on our high pressure guns.

Interesting idea @marinegrunt

What kind of pump specifications did you use? Were you happy with the force feeder?

I burnt through 2 check valves on stainless injectors. One only lasted a few weeks. I rinse them constantly. I’m back to high draw gp. I just keep a lot on hand.

I have a 1 gpm right now but gonna move up to a 2.2. I do get more sh but not sure it’s enough. I still have to do some tests so I know. I’ll try and remember to keep you updated.
