Are your personal assets protected? LLC? EIN? Do you have insurance, what about your health insurance, do you even have that? You do you man, good luck. Hopefully you can see why others get upset when guys are out here butchering the market setting false expectations for the rest of our customers.

Do you have proper insurance? Would you be willing to post a picture of it with your address crossed out? I will not offer any advice to someone I believe is not a legitimate company. I don’t see where you are looking for advice but more so trying to sell advice.

I will tell you that you don’t have any knowledge that we don’t have about marketing. You have a large fan base and clientele list because of your base price. End of story. You will not make it in this business if you don’t raise your prices. You will get burnt out. $80 is a lot of money to a younger guy. But $80 doesn’t fill my gas tank in my truck.

Post pictures of your rig and equipment so we can compare apples to apples. If you want to sell me advice let me see that you are using quality equipment and a reliable vehicle. I need to see if your advice is worth my time… if you are able to have a price point like that and have equipment and overhead like we do then we need to hear what you are selling.

With up sales that 300 should be in the 700 range. I haven’t heard anyone criticizing you. It’s all been solid advice to help you and the industry. Most 21 year olds haven’t lived long enough to realize that they don’t have all the answers. Most think they have life figured out. Be smarter than that and listen to those that have been there done that. It really makes no difference to me. On residential I market myself to people that would not even consider you because of your low price. Like I said build value. If a customer told me they could get you to do it for 89. my response would be he knows what his work is worth however if you want quality and someone who protects you and your property by having insurance who is going to pay attention to the little details and cater to you then please consider my estimate. Even though you may do just as good of a job and be just as professional your pricing makes you look like a fly by night operation.

Good start!

So what equipment are you running?

Hiscox does not offer coverage on the parts of the house you are there to clean. ie siding. Only incidentals like window leaks. If you screw up the siding, it will not be covered. That is not legit insurance and it does not protect your customer. I get it though, it would be tough to buy the real stuff @ $85/.

You think I made unfair over generalizations. This is what I mean. Everything is unfair now. Super sensitive. You feel discriminated against. Am I supposed to not give my opinion? I cant express myself? Are you the deciding mediator on what is fair or not? Well check this out, millennials and handymen that undercut local average prices by 200% really hurt my feelings and make me need a safe space with yoga goats and no Trump photos. I think all halfway service providers owe me an appology and should take price sensitivity training.

Inaccurate information. My policy does cover that buddy.

I’m not saying I feel discrimated against. Honestly your opinion on millenials doesn’t offend me either way. You’re entitled to it. You’re just seeing things from your perspective, which I assume you’re an older guy. I’m saying this is what it’s like from my perspective as a millennial. I hear older folks complaining about millenials ALL the time. All the people I work with are 40+ and are constantly saying this and that about millenials when they’re the ones who raised the millenials. That’s my point. So they had a direct influence on how the millennial generation turned out. Maybe “unfair” was the wrong term to use. You’re totally entitled to your opinion man.

I AGREE with you on the business part. The folks doing house washes for rock bottom prices are a cancer to this industry and all the hard working folk who support their families.

Do you have millenial age kids? Are they self sufficient adults who contribute to society? If they weren’t who’s fault would you say it is?

At one point, I thought so too. Like yourself, I was wrong. They wont even let you wash retaining walls, second story work etc.

Buddy

I’m not thinking anything, I’m only speaking from facts. Maybe the policy you had doesn’t cover those things but mine does.

Im 37, married with 3 kids under 7.

Well shoot, you’re a millenial!

Being a millennial myself I understand your hustle. Most guys here have been doing this for a while, and I power washed houses for a little while and I can tell you it’s not easy work. Working in the car business for 4 years as well, I learned few things when it comes to the number of sales vs profitability per sale. We had something called minis which was a $75 dollar flat payout. Sure you could be the guy running around like a chicken without a head and sell 35 cars and give them all away. At this rate, you’re at 35 sales x 75 per car = which leaves you at $2,625. Or you could be the guy that sells 15 cars works half as less and averages 500 per car. At those numbers, ( 15x 500 per car) = $7,500 bucks! almost triple the money and half the work. Sure there is a possibility that you may have found an easier way. If this is the case just because it’s easier for you doesn’t mean you should charge less. You should charge based on value and not how hard, or how long the job takes. If I scrub your house down with a sponge and take 3 days, should I be entitled to 2,000 because I took more time? When you drop your prices, you’re undervaluing your services. Again VALUE = PRICE, and NOT - TIME & EFFORT = PRICE.

When it comes time to scale how will you pay your employees? Benefits?

Why not be a little closer to market price so you and the guy next to you can do a job for $350 each instead of you doing 2 jobs for $150 each?

Just food for thought, not saying you should do exactly as everyone is saying but taking some tips from guys that have been doing this for an extended amount of time might be wise. You’ll probably make a couple more bucks at the end of the day and won’t have to work as hard.

SIDENOTE: In regards to your Facebook ads, the reason why you’re getting so much traction is because of your ultra-low prices. If I was a homeowner and saw an unbelievable offer like that I would be an idiot not to take advantage! Facebook is great if your advertising a low price or a very appealing offer, but wouldn’t have a similar effect with the guy who’s just offering a free estimate or double your price. Regardless I’ve still found success with Facebook just not at those numbers. If you’re going to be selling your services just make sure businesses you sell to is willing to drop their prices as low as yours, or else you’re going to have a very unhappy customer.

Again being a millennial myself, I definitely respect your hustle, but remember work smarter not harder. Apple computers are more expensive than HP, but which one do most people prefer?
