Hello everyone! I’m new posting here. I’ve beven running a small pressure Washing business for going on 2 1/2 Years now. In that time I’ve learned a crap ton of things. Some of my main focuses during that time span has been improving my services, improving business efficiency, and marketing on social media. When i first started trying to use Facebook i was like a lot of other people thinking i would just post stuff and people would be interested. I quickly learned that wasn’t true and almost gave up on Facebook like maybe some of you have. But, i didn’t quit! I decided to keep testing and trying different things. In about a year and 1/2 I’ve now accumulated over 600 targeted page likes, over 55 all 5 star reviews, and at least 85% of my business comes from Facebook and Instagram. I know that there is tremendous opportunity on Facebook for many of you and you’re truly missing out! Traditional marketing no longer works as well. Social media is where it’s at! Now, if you don’t know what you’re doing it’s going to be a complete waste of time! What I’ve also realized over this time is that many other pressure Washing business owners like yourselves are really good at your service but in other areas like marketing, branding, and customer management we could use some help. So, I’ve now decided that I want to help a few business owners who understand the value of those such things to start getting more out of their businesses! As a business owner you do not want to be a do it yourselfer all the time! It’ll only create more frustration! I had to learn to heard way. Even a simple lesson like going from a 1 man show to hiring someone on your team, you may make less money but you’ll have more time and time is money! It’l also lead to you being able to take on more jobs! But anyway, for those of you who offer a quality service and would. Like some help marketing your business, branding it, and improving your operations feel free to reach out to me at contact@iworkspressurewashing.com . Once again I’m not looking to help everybody, my time is valuable and I’m only willing to work with serious business owners who see the value in this and can afford to invest a small amount of money to grow their brands. Now you’re probably wondering where the social proof is so go check out my page and website Redirecting... .
Looks good but $85 housewashes
Seriously, how are you profitable selling house washes for $85-$115. Your facebook page looks great and you really seem like you know a thing or two about facebook marketing, but how is it even worth your time selling it for that little. Theres tons of comments about you being the cheapest around. I wouldn’t exactly consider that a good thing. No disrespect to you honestly, but wouldn’t you rather position yourself as a quality professional than just the cheapest guy in town?
It comes down to systems. Systems are what make your business profitable. There a lot of guys out there claiming to do pressure washing and what not. Over the past couple of years I’ve really focused on simplifying the process and becoming really good at what i do. So, here’s the basics. 1. Only focus on the most profitable activity’s and for me that’s vinyl siding homes. The average 2 story home only takes an 1 hour 2400 square feet or less. I rarely get on a ladder so that saves time. I do don’t aim to be cheap. I offer quality services and affordable prices. A lot of guys are charging more because it’ll take them longer than it will take me. Most ppl don’t have the experience so the only way to justify their time is by charging more. One thing I’m sure of is that i do really good work in a really efficient manner! I’ve ignored most of the traditional thoughts on pressure washing and have created my own process and system, and it works. As far as materials go it only costs about $7.5-$10 to do a house and the rest is labor. Lastly, I recognized a gap in the marketplace. I realize that A lot of people don’t want to pay $300+ For a house wash and so they don’t they just choose to leave the house dirty. So, I give people what they want and that’s a good price and a good service. I’m able to wash houses faster than some cut grass. As far as I’m concerned I don’t have any competition. That’s the difference between working in your business versus working on your business. Nothing about my business is fancy I just figured out how to make it work.
You only figured out how to work more for less. That is all you have mastered! We all use the same process you do. You didn’t write the book and do not know anything special that we don’t about efficiency when washing houses.
This is not a measuring contest. We spend thousands on equipment and fight for good rates. Rates are pushed down because of guys like you. Our market shouldn’t be compared to “cutting grass” because at least the grass will grow back 30times a year!
And this is coming from a relatively cheap provider!
You have potential but unfortunately you have branded yourself as “cheap” I read Facebook reviews. You must be good to get all those reviews! Take this constructive criticism. Do you want to be forever known as the cheapest? Or the best? Food for thought
He’s trying to sell you his advice. I’ll offer it for free!!
- Be the cheapest in town (by far the cheapest! Like 1/3 what the competition is charging)
- Do quality work
- Ask for Facebook reviews
- Spend a little money on Facebook advertising with a video or before and after picture
- Work 10 hour days 7 days a week to stay in the green
- Don’t pay attention to the other powerwash guy on the weekends. As distracting as it may be seeing him pull his boat by you or see him riding a bike with his family enjoying time off, just know you are making $85 Washing a house!
See it’s not that hard!
The thing you don’t understand is I’m not taking anyone’s business. I target people who will not pay a high price for a house wash. Yea i could charge $300 or more like a lot of others but that would still leave a market unserved. These are people that other companies can’t win anyway. My goal isnt to squeeze as much money from people as posssible. I’m very profitable. Not to mention I’m only 21 so I’ve done this in 2 years. I know guys who have “15 years of experience” who don’t do near as good work as my business. Every company serves a different market. Are you mad that McDonald’s has a dollar menu and chick Fil a doesn’t? I mean y’all should really stop worrying about what other companies are doing and charging. There are very few people using the word “cheap” when describing my business. At the end of the day though I could care less at what anyone who’s not a customers thinks of my business it’s a waste of my time. Lastly if you think that i get business solely because I’m cheaper, you’re completely wrong. There are guys out there charging less than i do and are still starving. Most of the prices that other guys are charging cannot be justified. You guys really act like you care about how much money i make! It’s honestly laughable!
When I market on facebook there is this one “home improvement” company / lawn care company that has this copy paste thing, they advertise $80 single story and $120 2 story flat rate pricing. I bet each of his customers tell their friends about their “awesome” price and that sets the low price expectations and hurts the legitimate companys that charge a normal price. I know this is a fact because just yesterday some guy asked for a quote. Then was like… well this one guy will charge $120. I said I cant compete with those prices. Work smarter not harder.
Nice hustle for a 21year old.
No overhead? No living expenses.
Hope you are insured, and paying taxes.
Share your equipment specs
All “grown men” have living expenses. Millennials rarely function as grown men.
I think what everyone is saying is that it’s great at your age that you’re out there building a business. However, you need to do it the right way. At 21 yo probably don’t have a $1500 mortgage a 600 vehicle payment a daughter who is going out for high school cheerleading that’s about $2000. Do you see my point? You’re not being greedy by charging 300 per house. I’m about to get started back in the business and for every dollar I make only about 60% of it gets to my personal account the rest goes for saving for breakdowns, taxes, and other misc expenses. One day you will have a family to provide for. If you establish your reputation as the 85 dollar guy now you will not be able to overcome it later. I was 17 when I started washing houses. I’m about to be 54(do the math) even back then I got 100 per house. People don’t mind paying if you build value. You need to build value in your abilities and yourself
So your ok with being a “McDouble” when you could be a “whopper”? That’s what I’m taking from the reply…
Again I’m not knocking your business! And looking at the pictures on your Facebook page of the quality of house I would say you could charge more. People living in a 100k+ home are willing to pay $200 for a house wash if they need it.
I can’t even get the wife’s van detailed around here for what you charge to drive to someone’s house and clean it.
You need to slowly raise your prices so you can plan for the future!
I think it’s a huge bummer when people make generalizations about millenials. I’m 24 in July I’ve been working full time for 5 years. I bought a house at 21 and have been completely financial responsible for myself since then. I pay for my own house, cars, vacations living expenses etc. Several of my friends that are the same age are doing the same. It’s crazy when older generations talk crap about millenials because your generation RAISED the millenials. Don’t mean to turn this into some debate but let’s not make unfair over generalizations.
A lot of that is probably where you are from and how your area raises kids. Are you from the city?
I’m 29 and I will tell you that yes there is an entitled generation known as millennials lol.
What makes a company legitimate?
Legitimate wasn’t the right word, but you know. Registered at the Federal/ State and Local levels. Proper Insurances and paperwork.
Insurance, quality of work, reliability, licensed, pays taxes, stable, and doesn’t cut the rates drastically.
Being competitive is one thing. But being wreckless with a price is another. Your prices are wreckless my friend. You are the reason guys like me with a family and mortgage and have 10k in equipment have a hard time. And trust me someday if you plan on doing this full time and want to own a house and nice things and support a family you will not make it doing $99 house washes! You blow a motor on a professional rig and youll have to wash 20 homes just to pay for a new one.
I am just glad you live very very far from me
I respect your opinion, and i am slowly raising my prices and my customers know that. Like i said I’ve been in business for 2 years and have literally learned everything from scratch. Honestly I’m using this as a vehicle. I understand that you older gentleman have more living expenses than I. Life comes down to choices and everything thing i do is strategic. I don’t have a wife and kids and a mortgage and a lot of debt because i choose not too. I’m investing in my future. This business is leverage for me. To be honest by the time I’m 35 we’ll probably having robots that wash house for us. But once again i have not branded myself as the cheap guy. Some of my customers may be cheap but my business is not labeled as that. I have other clientele that i make more money from. All you all are seeing is front end stuff, you’re not seeing my upsells, and driveways and decks the i make $300+ on. Trust me I’m not cheap guy and no fool. If someone is making 8k and month and only has 3k in expenses vs someone making 15k with 14k expenses who’s better off? It’s all respect over here though but you all just gotta understand the full picture.
