DIY Belt-driven Builds?

Hi everyone! It’s my first post, please be gentle.

I’ve spent about 30 minutes so far digging through the forum topics to see if anyone has asked this question; I can’t find it yet. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with building their own belt-driven setup. There are resources on the CAT page for matching pulleys and engine rpm’s for desired output and pressure. But I’m looking specifically for how people are actually mounting these things to their skids/trailers.

Do any of y’all have links to a build page that could help me, or am I just thinking too much about it? I’m huge into researching before pulling the trigger, and getting mentally prepped for the build process will help me make sure I don’t forget to order rails/etc that I may need.

Just for the stats-heads out there, I’m looking at a GX-390 mated with either General HP4040 (4gpm/4k psi) or the CAT 5pp3140 (4gpm/4k psi).

Thank you for helping me on my first post!

Is this Jake that used to work for me?

No, I wish! I’ve noticed that you’re the head honcho around these parts, haha. This is Jake Lambert in Asheville, NC.

Whatcha wearing Jake ? :joy:

There’s a whole sub-level that noobs can’t access?! That would be killer, I’m always wary of wasting anyone’s time (especially if there’s an easy-to-find thread about a topic).

Your not wasting anyone’s time bubby, most of us work all day and have limited time.So it’ll help you get your answers way faster and a ton of diy stuff. The search bar above is jacked up @ the moment, it takes you to window cleaning site. BORING,LOL.

Well, there is so much incredible information in the archives. Currently the search function is partially broke. If you use the work around link you can dig up some great threads!

Welp it looks like your more computer savy than I, you’ll do great here…Read, read ,get a game plan and ask away. I think if you research enough you’ll dump the 4gpm and go for a 5.5 with a gx630 or an 8gpm with a gx690. You’ll see why by researching

Funny enough, I was just about to post on here the same thing after digging in deeper! 5.5, gx630! the 8gpm is a little out of my range, but I’m going to create a budget for that one as well (bigger buffer, stronger trailer, etc). This is my weekend side-job, so my ROI would be quite a bit slower on the beefier setup . I just want to do the job the right way, be professional, and not ■■■■ up anyone’s house in the process. Thanks again for all of y’alls help.

Ride to Kernersville and get a 8gpm unit. MVP Services. Call the Raleigh store, talk to the owner Diego. Tell him William sent you and he will take care of you.

Your over thinking it, but the only real hard part is finding the good stuff. I only know of manuf skid mounts, dont know anyone who actually makes them, but its not that big of a deal to make 1. Theres a link button at the bottom of this pressure pro page that Ive provided the link to, and scoll way in the end of those 170 plus pages theres skids and belt drive covers. Plus everything you would need.
PressurePro
Then there’s Carts and skids

Thank you for the help, I’m so impressed with everyone on this forum. So much knowledge here!

Do not go with an aluminum skid mount ,you will not be happy in the end @Jake_Lambert. It be more frustrating than the PWRA search button messing up for a good month or better now .

Aluminum is junk for a skid. You are driving distance to quality equipment. A lot of guys around the country don’t have that luxury.
