I want a belt driven pw but I have direct drive should I just convert it to belt drive
You have a 13 h.p. ?
Honda 390
according to the stats it’s a 13hp. I wouldn’t tinker with a belt driven until you get up into the 18 h.p. range .Then buy a pump to match…and then the tank you’re wanting. When I had my 13 h.p. I was just focused on making money to buy bigger equipment… Never had any goals to modify equipment.
Me either someone brought it to my attention I have a job that I need a tank for so any ideas
Don’t forget, your other option is to go with a gear driven pump. An Udor 5.5 will make you an awesome machine, takes about 15 minutes to swap pumps, and is a huge money maker! I know because that’s what I did last year. It made me a good bit of money and I still have it as a back-up in case my 8 fails me (which I doubt because it’s a Honda driven Udor too) Search the forums for people’s opinion on Udors and you’ll see what I mean.
Which material do I go with???
Not sure what you mean…would you mind elaborating a bit?
It has brass pressure brass stainless do you take your pump off and put this on or how’s it work
Yes, you take of your direct drive pump, bolt the gear driven pump in its place, throw the direct drive away (or use it as a paper weight, if you want to feel like it’s still useful), then wash houses with a big smile on your face and tell everybody how much you love your Udor pump!
What is the average cost on one???
Do you change your unloader???
You should change your unloader, as most direct drive pumps have a built-in unloader, which means junk.
Cost varies by model and dealer. I think I paid $875 or so for mine, but that was a year and s half ago, so I don’t remember. The price got a Udor will be higher than for other pumps, but you definitely get what you pay for. (Plus, you’re also paying for the gear drive, which is basically a little transmission of sorts)
Which pump and unloader do you have
I have a 10 g.p.m. Udor pump I bought last year.(used) Have never attached it to a machine.
Assuming I need at least a 20 h.p. to run the pump properly ?
That’s what I read about them so then in that case it would do me no good
I think so. The pump/horsepower formula is on a thread here somewhere. The thing to reminder is, you’ll be able to get the GPM, but not the PSI, even with a very underpowered engine. I believe one guy was running a 10gpm pump with a GX390, but I think it was pretty well maxed out.
So it will probably drops my psi by 500psi or more??? What about a unloader
I have the 5.5 Udor gear drive with a Zeromatic unloader on my GX390. My 8 GPM is an Udor belt drive, also with a Zeromatic unloader.
