Clothing Impervious to SH

Great catch! It wouldn’t let me edit it for some reason so I deleted it. Thanks Mike!

I’ve always worn the 100% poly shirts from Port Authority (or Port & Co, cant remember which one) and SH has no effect.

Still looking for true SH-proof pants. Have worn the Duluth trading nylon pants for last two years and while they hold up ok, after a season they start to look pretty rough.

I found some shorts on Amazon that are 100% poly. I have a pair of pants that are similar but they are a mix of poly and cotton. They still hold up pretty good to sh. Although, the spots definitely start showing eventually but aren’t real noticeable. As for the all poly shorts I haven’t worn them yet so can’t comment on them.

Here are some 100% poly tactical pants that I’ll probably try this fall. I want to find them in more of a khaki color though.

I’m thinking about just bleaching tan pants so it’s just a more vibrant tan with no more marks lol

I think I might just start washing in my whitey tighteys. The best part is I’d never have to change them because they’d get bleached everyday.

As a guy who wore tac pants for about 10 years daily, I would steer clear of 5.11. Why? Their quality has gone down and their prices have gone up. There are a lot of other manufacturers who make tac pants who are much more reasonable in price with superior quality.

I owned tac pants that were royal robbins, that was the predecessor to 5.11. They bought them out or took their idea or something. ANyway, those royal robbins lasted 8 years, the 5.11 that I bought after that lasted maybe 4 years. THe last pair of 5.11 I bought lasted about 1.5 years.

I own several different manufacturer’s tac pants and the nylon ripstops are great in the summer. the pockets are awesome. Get a web belt for them to reduce weight and be fully functional. THe heavyweight cotton ones were real good in winter, but they would suck for spraying SH.

I have two pair that I beat the snot out of all the time for outdoor activities and they are made by true spec. I don’t know how they react to SH, but if I was going to test a pair out, they would be the ones. True spec used to run sales periodically, when they did all the people at work would put out emails notifications and we would all pick up a few pairs. their cotton poly blend ones are normally only 25.00 or something.

The 5.11 were the only ones I found that were 100% polyester. If I can get a month or two out of a pair I’ll be happy. Cotton obviously isn’t good around SH. Nylon is out because the SH will actually melt it. There are some mixtures of like 65% poly and 35% cotton but they still show spots from SH. I used a pair last year that were the 65% poly and 35% cotton with kevlar coating and they held up pretty good but you can see spots from SH. The spots aren’t too horrible. I wouldn’t wear them anymore for doing estimates but I would on washing days. I think they were CQR’s.

I would stick to the 100% poly but the 65% poly can work okay but will stain. I think I remember seeing a 75% poly 25% cotton mix which might do a little better. I don’t think they had the Kevlar coating though.

Any definitive word on bleach proof shorts?

I wore my Frogg Togg pants yesterday and thought I was gonna pass out from sweating so much.

I found a pair of 100% poly Wrangler shorts in Walmart a couple weeks ago. Might be worth checking out.

If you wear xxl, and want polyester golf shirts, amazonian is selling them for $9 shipped (if you have prime). I haven’t tested them out yet, but they seem ok after a wash. Here is a link, i don’t get a commission or a kickback. https://www.amazon.com/Hanes-Sport-Performance-White-Medium/dp/B010C7M10C/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=hanes%2Bgolf%2Bshirts%2Bfor%2Bmen&qid=1590266523&sr=8-2&th=1&psc=1

Sams club had some 100% poly cargo shorts with belt for $9.99. They were iron co or denali, can’t recall, didn’t see them on the website. I bought a couple pair to try out.

They’re not. I have them. Anything over HW mix and they’re gonna stain.

I haven’t tried them yet. But I struggle to see how 100% poly could bleach, unless they’re lying about the fibers used.

Hoping they’ll at least beat my 65/35 dickies

You sure you got the 100% poly Wranglers? They also have similar shorts in nylon and 100% cotton.

I hope my 100% poly tactical shorts work out.

Can’t go wrong with Carhartt

I see your Carhartt and raise you a Duluth Trading.:grimacing:

Yep, I’m sure. They’re crap. Best I’ve found so far is Old Navy golf style shorts.

that pair probably has 20 house washes on them and not a single spot. All polyester is not created equal apparently.
