Chem injector whining

Ok, bear with me…I did search this issue and found that some say it so normal to hear a loud whining sound when the chem injector is being used on an 8gpm. I’m using a high draw 3-5gpm injector from pressuretek. Can anyone else chime in and verify whether this is normal? Is there a better alternative? Machine is brand new and just want to make sure I’m not damaging anything…

Totally normal

My reels make a squealing sound. The only whining is me when I’m fighting with my hose.

Normal. You can try placing the injector further from the reel swivel but I doubt it will do much. I honestly don’t even notice the squeal anymore. Probably because I’m not swapping from soap to rinse by hand anymore. Click that Schertzbox remote and away we go!

Thanks for the feedback! Jealous of the remote soap switch. One day!

Just put the order for mine in the other day… I’ve wanted it for so long and everytime I was far away from the trailer I’d imagine clicking that remote around my neck and that was enough for me to break down and buy the box

There are lots of less expensive alternatives. I just built my own for about $120

Have a parts list or how to for that? @Steve

I shot a quick video but I haven’t uploaded it to YT yet. I’ll post it when I get it uploaded. Here’s a pic of the guts.

Interested @Steve . What’s the range ?

What does the meter above the on off switch do? Or whatever that thingy is

So far about 300’ depends on the structures you’re working around.

That’s a volt meter to tell me the battery charge.

Awesome Steve! If possible a parts list would be incredible. I don’t remember seeing that valve in here before? In any case thank you!

Mine looks kinda like that, but I use a rotary valve and my strobe is on top if the trailer.

If I may, consider using vacuum hose on the injector side, my reinforced hose collapsed twice so I switched.

Everything is there except grommets, teflon tape, crimp terminals, tubing, velcro, etc…

It’s a solenoid valve instead of an actuator valve. It uses a magnet at the top to open the valve when energized, otherwise it’s normally closed by a spring. Some people prefer the actuator valve because it won’t get as hot and doesn’t use as much battery power as the solenoid.

I chose to use the less expensive solenoid valve so I could build in redundancy. I actually ordered 2 valves and put quick a quick connector on the wires. I mounted the valve with velcro and in the event of a valve failure I can pop in a new valve in a few minutes, and I remain working while I send in the bad one for warranty. If your $220 actuator valve goes out, you’re screwed until you get a repair or replacement.

I’ll keep an eye on that. That hose is the off the downstream injector that’s been on there for a couple of years without any problems. Was it heat that collapsed the hose? I can’t imagine the injector producing that much vacuum.

The Barb is out of stock. I found these 3 available:

Have you had it fail yet?

I used those valves when I was making my own remotes and still have a half dozen or so. They lasted about a month or so, which wasn’t bad for the price. The downside is, it only stops the soap, it doesn’t switch to water like a three way does.

Thank you Sir!

If you got two of the valves, one normally open and one normally closed, you could wire them in parallel with the remote and plumb them both into a tee before the injector.

When the bleach solenoid closes, the water solenoid would open, rinsing the injector and giving you back that little bit of lost flow.
