Cast Iron Cookware

Do the low carb diet and you can eat all the eggs and bacon you want. I’m sure it’s not the healthiest diet but it works to drop weight fast. Then you can start eating normally again. When I got out of the Marine Corps I went from 180 to 210. I dropped 25 pounds in a month or two and have held steady for over 12 years. I would eat all the meat I wanted during the day too.

They say copper pots and pans are the best cookware. The closest I’ve ever came are one of those as seen on tv copper plated types…lol I also think cast iron makes the best bacon and eggs. Especially over a campfire. Not sure what it is. Probably just more of the environment.

Then WTH is he gonna do with his fancy bread maker?
Your right that Atkins diet is the bomb. 12 mcdouble hold the ketchup and toss the bun when OTR. lost 1 and 1/2 lb a day.
Meat, seafood, pork rinds, diet soda pop.

That’s some of the best advice I’ve seen on the forum.

That diet definitely works. It’s nice in that you can eat all the meat you want but sucks because of no carbs. That’s why once I lost the 25 pounds I’ll never put it back on. I like my ice cream so I just skip eating all day, eat supper, and then hammer some ice cream before bed…lol. I will sometimes eat a granola bar or two during the day though. It took awhile to getting use to not eating all day but easy after awhile.

Yall a Bunch of flowers…
Smart flowers, but flowers nun the less. Lol

I did keto for a while a couple years ago and loved it. I went from 250 to 200 before I knew what happened with absolutely no exercise whatsoever. I have since gained most of that back so I figured I’m going to shoot for somewhere in the middle. Not exactly keto but not full blown calorie counting either. Just good fats, proteins and LOADS of veggies and fruits. Been trying to have a salad with every dinner too. It’s much slower but I think it builds better habits.

That thing is fancy. We just recently got a pressure cooker so we’re obviously slow to convert. To be honest, I don’t really like the pressure cooker for most things. I’m sure it’s great when you have a house full of kids but between the boss and I one of us can usually whip up something quick fast and in a hurry. If we want a laxy night we do roast in the crock pot. Just had that last night actually.

I like a reverse seared steak too but nothing tops the flavor of a flame grilled piece of meat for me. I did some filet mignon last week completely in the cast iron pan and it was ridiculously good. Wrapped in bacon :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Your a brave soul, I don’t think I’d tackle that with high dollar meat.
I’m truly bowing down to your boldness sir.

LOL you’re ate up my friend! The first night we used it we did frozen chicken breasts and it was done in about half an hour and was excellent. I just enjoy the actual process of cooking and that kind of takes the fun out of it. It is very handy when you need something fast. Until it blows up and you have a hole in the new roof that is lol

Stand before me for we are equals. There’s a local grocery store that sells 6oz bacon wrapped filet mignon for $5.50 each lol

There safe, just make sure that pressure valve on top is clean after every use. I like it alot, were kid less as well, all grown up, So cooking a big meal and all the mess is a bummer, So it just handy to have gadgets. I love to cook alot though, I’m dabbling in the baking department as well here n there, drives my wife nuts, she hates me in the kitchen, she’s old school, won’t even own a dishwasher and no men in kitchen.

Is she crazy? I honestly would just eat out every meal if I had to do all the dishes by hand. Not gonna happen.

That’s a fact. I bet 90% of the people who are successful at the atkins diet end up right back where they started in less than a year. Atkins is really only good for a jump start before an actual healthy diet. Once you hit your target goal you then need to start that healthy eating pattern. A lot fail because they get carried away because they can’t resist after finally being able to eat junk food again. Watching your weight takes discipline. People are much more successful when they build those healthy eating habits versus just watching what or how much the eat. Most seem to fail because they try some extreme diet that totally blows and want instant results. Especially today with how everyone wants everything NOW. Slow and steady wins the race

That’s no joke. I used to eat triple meat whataburgers two at a time because I knew I would go to wrestling practice and burn it right off. Then wrestling ended and I kept the same eating habits plus the added stress of college and then later on I lived off of gas station food when I worked in the oilfield. I blew up to 250 (a sexy 250) and I was like whoa I have to stop. My dad died of a heart attack and his dad was diabetic. I don’t want either of those.

I own a dishwasher but unhooked it cause I want my kids to know how to do it. But yet I wash the most!. I’m real finicky when it comes to clean dishes and cookware. Plus I do most of the cooking. But I’ve got kids 16yr old boy and a 13yr old girl next month. I do make them help cook so they learn how. Today’s kids don’t get what it was like back in the day. Try to teach mine though.

Good on ya, amigo. If my mom had unplugged the dishwasher and said figure it out there would have been mutiny lol I’m glad to hear you teach them to cook because so many kids today have no clue how to boil water. It’s a sad time.

I love my cast iron cookware. And like William, we have a glass top stove and never any problem using it on there. I grill meat 95% of the time, but throwing a couple of steaks with just some real butter and garlic/pepper mix and cooking for about 3 min on each side is killer. Usually I’ll throw some sliced mushrooms in there too. Put some of that buttery juice with the mushrooms on top of steaks, life doesn’t get any better, lol.
