Calls suddenly stopped... what is going on?

Glad somebody got the joke. I was certain I get a response like “How dare you! Better build a wall around this guy and make him pay for it!”

So I’m glad you beat them to it. Lol

Strategically scheduling repeat Condos and Apartments during your known slow times is a good way to keep the schedule consistent.

This industry (depending on geography) has buying cycles just like anything else

Last week of May/First week of June

Last 2 weeks of August.

(School is on everyone’s mind, stopping or starting)

Heck we gave our best client(2 week job) a 20% discount this year to move to last two weeks of August. Now I don’t have to worry about that slow drop off and employees can stay busy.

@squidskc My phone seldom rings…if I don’t cold call, knock on doors and things like that…I will never work. However, in the last 10 days…I have not had a single person that I have talked with be remotely interested…just a blank stare and a thanks and I will call if I need you. Talking in person with people is how I land 80% of my work…if that ain’t working…I ain’t working…but I might be fishing!

You’re correct , I should have just been more specific . So during the end of busy season I start to schdule clients that can wait and are not in a rush to after Memorial Day . Giving me more open slots for the busy season . If I book a client for the Friday before Memorial Day to someone that can wait , then someone that needs it done before will go with someone that is open before .

We are super busy and my phone is ringing not stop. We have 3 weeks in June booked and the whole month of July booked. August is usually slower but we still stay busy. The first week of September is usually the slowest week of the yr.

I do PW and window cleaning, along with screen repair. I’m busy all the time.:flushed:

@dcbrock Where do you live?

Louisville.

We are wrapping up a screen porch tomorrow, let’s just say I’m allowed to get a new machine.:ok_hand:

Do you work in Augusta?

Augusta…where is that?

Sorry, I thought you were in Ga.

Were you just dying to clean the gutters at the funeral home?

Better to clean the outside than the inside! :flushed:

I have this funny thing going on with my residential I do a house I get a ton of referals…I end up doing 4 or 5 more houses because I was recomended…I do those and then there’s a lull for a week then it picks back up and I’m gangbusters again…I hate to admit right now it’s kind of nice that the residential slows down a bit because the commercial generally stays the same…
This winter when everyone is packing their equipment away I’m going to focus on getting more commercial so I can stay busy this winter.
Does anyone else have those weird lulls seem to be every 3 weeks or so…basicly niece a month it’ll slow down to nothing?

Your right.
I really haven’t been doing any direct door to door or cold call marketing because I was so busy washing.
I guess I need to schedule people a bit more spaced out so I still have time to acquire more customers.
Today I will start looking real hard for work.

This is my first year in business, my first self employment as well. 8 months in.
And yes I actually quit my job 5 months and started this full time.

Maybe I need to offer more services. Right now all I do is house washing/driveways/fences/ roofs.

What other kind of services do y’all offer?
I know gutter cleaning could be added…
How about window cleaning? Do I need a water purification system for that?

To expound on what Genaro said:

I’ve found that when I space out my schedule a bit during the busy season, I have no trouble filling in the open slots with additional jobs. That may be from having a little more time to breath and follow up on all new leads, or fitting in the last minute emergency jobs like Genaro mentioned. Every once in a while, I have a job I’m able to do on the spot for someone who walks over from next door to where I’m working, because I have a workday that isn’t ridiculously jam packed.

Worse comes to worst, if I can’t fill a slot that I’ve left open in the schedule with a new job, I’ve always got at least two or three customers who have booked further out but request to be on our “cancellation list” in case an earlier appointment becomes available.

I don’t think anybody’s biting on that this time!
