Burner not firing - Help

I do not have a wiring diagram. I’m going to see about finding some more info on this particular pressure switch.

PA PR 16

Yes that allow power to burner

If I had to guess it would be to jump the two leads that are adjacent from one another. I’m going to have to head to Home Depot. No aligator clamps.

I’m assuming you haven’t taken it apart and cleaned it just pull small pin it will slide off be careful of parts inside wipe down with wi DeX put back

I cant tell but just looking at the dirt in the box I would say that’s your problem

We know red is power. Most micro switches work by changing the direction of power. Think of a little lever inside switching back and forth from brown wire to blue wire. So, when off 12v is going to… we’ll say blue. When 12v is engaged a lever switches it to brown. I would first try and jump red to brown and see if that does anything. Then try red to blue.

bottom of page 5 you have the wiring diagram, and then down for problems and solutions. If that helps.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. I used that small screw driver to engage/disengage the pressure switch/plunger before starting it up. The plan was to manually engage the switch while it was running (in case the plunger was stuck) then the the burner off. After engaging the switch a few times a didn’t need to do it manually. The burner cane right on. I’m going to order a pressure switch tonight and attempt the job Sunday hoping that it doesn’t get stuck again. I’ll have a jump wire on hand just in case it’s needed.

Thanks everyone for your assistance. Probably saved me a few grand between repair shop and loss of work. Not to mention valuable time. Much appreciated!

So your saying I should disconnect it from the pump and clean it with dex prior to my job Sunday? It’s working now but I’m worried about it jamming back up.

Take it apart to clean it. They get corroded from mineral deposits in the water. There’s not much to them. I would still get a new but cleaning it may be enough.

This is why I love the PWRA, One happy family helping one another out. Some are good at this ,others are good @ that ,etc. You can’t buy information like this, all in one place.

Yessir. Here’s a video for any new guys like myself who was as clueless as I was as of yesterday. Wasn’t sure what the hell a pressure switch was or where it’s located. Learned a good bit through this failure. Hopefully the pictures, video and text of this thread will help the next guy.

Nice find. If you need it up and running for this coming week you can probably match the spring up at the hardware store to get you by until your replacement pressure switch comes in. You might be able to find a replacement on Amazon and have it in a day or two.

I’m thinking I’ll just reschedule the job. I don’t want to chance damaging the burner for one days work. When I took off the pressure switch part of the spring flew to a place unknown to me. Gonna be difficult to find and match. They don’t have the right pressure switch on Amazon but it’s on PT. Gonna place the order tonight and do the gas station next Sunday. I’m still happy to know what and how to fix the issue. I’m ordering two switches a long with some other spare parts for the burner.
