Bought my first rig

that would explain it.

I’ve been looking into the Max Jack lift. Says it will work with lower headroom so it would potentially work in my garage. Just need to get rid of my belt drive garage door opener and go to a jackshaft opener. Or I save my pennies for a couple more years and build a shop with a bigger two post lift or maybe even a platform lift. Only issue I see with those is it doesn’t really make anything easier when you’re working on one of the corners.

With the exception of my son’s two cars I can change oil without a lift on everything that I own really the only time I use a lift is for brake jobs and most of the time I just jack it up the post lifts won’t pick up my work trucks and the flat scissor lift jacks are a pain to get lined up on perfectly to pick the truck up

My truck is ~7000 pounds so most lifts should be able to pick it up. All I know is that removing torsion bars from the keys would be a whole lot easier if I could stand or even squat to swing the hammer. It’s officially on the goal list lol

I was wondering about the wheel balancer in the previous photos. Great idea to buy an old mechanic shop!

Well here is the final result of their fix. What do ya’ll think?

That’ll work. Probably not the absolute best way to do it but also a significant improvement over what you had. At least you can pull it around and not have to fret so much.

It’s not really how I would do it but it will work. They need to not advertise their working services though

Pretty much. At least the tank wont fly off on the highway. They plumbed it for antifreeze, added a drain hose and fixed the QD free of charge so that was nice.

Here are some photos I just took now that I’m picking it up.

I do my best to wrench at least twice a week or I’ll feel it for the next two days. Mainly hamstrings, neck, back and quads so just about everything. Got to stay busy though so I won’t rust up. I’ve got the wife’s SQ5 apart doing the oil separator that’s conveniently mounted underneath the supercharger. Knocked out the water pump and thermostat while I was there. Not too excited about dropping the engine down to the 4 timing chains on the back of the engine but knowing it’s a 9k dollar job I’m down

That. Sounds. Awful.

Better stuff some rags in there before your 10mm disappears

I like to live dangerously lol nah they got stuffed

Why are there no nuts on those bolts? Did they tap them? If so, great but I’d probably still prefer a Nylock nut on there. Glad you got antifreeze plumbed. That will make life easier at the end of a long day. Just don’t forget to close valves or you’ll end up with a bunch of watered down antifreeze :yum:

I just got stuffed down at Maria’s. Botana platter for the win.

Wife’s car is coming up for a water pump in the next 30k or so and South Main Auto on YouTube actually did one on his channel. I watched the entire thing. I will not be doing that job lol he had to unbolt the dang motor mounts and use his lift to lower the body down enough to sneak his tools in there to unbolt the darn thing. Think I’ll let the local Chevy dealer tackle that nightmare.

Do it man then you can bring your tool game up! I finally bought the cast aluminum vacuum pump after I killed my second plastic version

I need one of those! Had to have the dealer bleed the brakes after I flushed and put on new hardware. I got three corners bled but couldn’t get the fourth. Tried jacking rear end up and down and never could get it 100%. Figured it was the ABS system fighting me and I don’t have the fancy tool for that so I just let them do it.

Speaking of tools, I’m fighting my pitman arm puller not being able to go over the boot on the arm where it meets the center link. Went and bought a different brand puller and same thing. I’m one more busted knuckle away from breaking out the grinder and making it fit lol

I think you have the MightyVac or however it’s spelled. That’s the one I was eyeballing online when I was doing all that. Do you have any issues with it not working when the temperature drops? That was the only bad review I saw when I was looking at those. Figured I could throw it in front of a space heater for a few before using.

I knocked the roll pin out and broke it down for you. Really nice quality built in to it. They are using a silicon flap on their check and epdm on the plunger seal. I could see that losing it’s seal if left on its side in the cold as the plunger has some weight to it and it got rigid while it was caddy wompas. A heat gun on the body would fix that right up. I got mine here.

I’ve only used it twice now so i haven’t had any problems with it. They do have rebuild kits for them
