Blue trees

I would ask for the contact info of the artist who applied it and see if they actually have a way or suggestion to safely remove it.

Good thing it’s a decent sized city because they’d need to float a bond issue to get me anywhere near that. Unless spraying it with no more than say 500psi knocks it off. Once you touch it though, then the problem is yours. One of the trees dies in next year or 2 will be because of something you did.

This is art these days? :joy:. My god!

Why can’t they be normal and just put tutu’s on the trees like they do around here

Paint them brown and let mother nature do her thing

According to the “artist” it’s supposed to wear away naturally. “From season to season the trees grow through the cycles of nature and the colors also begin to change and disappear. There is a sense of time as a part of the concept.”

The man himself:

He says it comes off with rain…

Just for fun, how much would you guys charge for this craziness. There’s 8 trees

Ide figure out what replacing 8 trees that age would cost, then multiply it by 10.

If it really does come off with rain and time, I would try a straight rinse with water. If I could do it all with my house washing tips, I would probably price it at $100-$200 per tree, and tell them it should be 90% removed.

Maybe 20-30 minutes per tree for a detailed rinse?

There’s no way I would attempt it if straight water at low pressure doesn’t rinse it off.

I really did LOL at that. I’d be right with ya!

Seriously though, about 200-300 a tree with an ironclad waiver/contract releasing you from the liability of damage to the trees, surrounding concrete areas and environmental runoff. Also, with terms and conditions that specify the nature of the project being so unique that results are not guaranteed, and you have the option of not completing the work at your discretion.

I bet its tempera paint. Maybe spray water and some type of glycerin based soap.

I also recommend you test any theory out on the least visible tree at midnight… mostly kidding…

I’d charge $2500 a tree to cut them down and tell them to whip the fool that thought painting a tree blue was a good idea

Ok guys, I just contacted Konstantin Dimopolous off his site, will post back when I get a reply.

If you note in the video, they were using a cherry picker to reach the upper limbs.

He got back to me.

Hi Chris,
The color is a water based product not a dye or paint. In this instance because so many people came to color the trees the color was put on a number of times rather than just once. The color will come off with pressure wash or you can use a brush and lots of water to get the color off. You may want to test a small area using water, bucket and brush or power wash.

I am happy to discuss with you over the phone.

Regards

Honestly I think this thread is a contender for a “most interesting job” award on the whole forum.
