This is the second time one has failed, causing my bleach tank to get diluted. Are there any other higher quality versions you all have found? Also what measures can be taken to prevent this in the first place?
Do you know for a fact what spring material you got in those? Lots of vendors selling blend manifolds using those SMC valves that have Stainless steel springs rather than the more expensive Hastelloy springs.
My wife ordered off Amazon, description says hastelloy. The spring isn’t broken but for some reason it has no resistance when blowing into the ‘in’ side like a new one does.
The spring provides the resistance (cracking pressure). Which style was the one to fail on yours? Some have a thin elastomer disc (Viton) supported by a poppet that seals on the seat, the other style has a Teflon ball and spring. As far as better alternatives that’s going to be it until I have the time to do mine. Hard to say if it will actually come to fruition when they’ll likely retail for $60 each. Sure, everyone ones better alternatives but they also want it for nothing
It happened again, put in a brand new valve and somehow my bleach got diluted. I took the valve off and could blow both ways into it. A few minutes later it started working again.
Please don’t laugh, it’s a janky setup but please give advice what I can do to keep this from happening. These backflow valves keep quitting on me. Yes I know about the clamp, just posed it for the pic.
Maybe over time the SH is causing the innards of the check valve to stick? I have a 3 way to rinse my metering valve and check valve. I would definitely redo all that……start fresh.
I’ll probably have to go buy a premade one, I know zip about proportioner building. Regardless the check valve keeps failing for some reason, during operation. This thing is literally brand new, used it for the first time today.
My heart sank when my tank went from 14 gallons to 27 after using the 12v for all of five minutes.
EDIT: I just now took it apart and there was a big wad of blue plastic in the valve. Guess that explains things.
Do you run filters on your lines? That will help prevent debris getting in the valves. I use filters on my lines….never had a problem with debris in my valves. Just a thought.
It happened again, my bleach got diluted today. I haven’t had a chance to take the check valve apart but I suspect there is something blocking it open again.
