Best place to buy titan hose reels

They’re great reels so far and they were really reasonably priced. I just wouldn’t have gotten powder coated reels since I mount mine on the sides instead of the rear. Rock chips are really noticeable.

I’m also really happy with everything I’ve replaced with stainless steel so I’ll probably go that route in the future. I always hear great things about titans and hannays so I’ll probably go with one of those.

I’m not willing to pay for SS at this point, nor does my workload justify it lol.

How do you like having the reels curb side? It sounds nice, but the rock chips thing sounds irritating. I’ve been thinking about mounting them curbside on the rail or welding 2 pieces of angle iron across the rear of the trailer connecting the rails and mounting them on that. Then they can be on the rear, giving me more useable trailer space down the side, but also get them up higher for more ergonomic winding. I’m 6’3" and I imagine that bending over to wind up hose reels at deck height would be really uncomfortable, painful, and less efficient. I think mounting at rail height would be just about perfect.

I just can’t figure out if curbside would be better or rear of trailer across two rails between the side rails.

Curbside all day everyday. Limit your exposure on the roadway as much as possible.

Can you elaborate on your reasoning or experience?

It makes rolling out and rolling back up easier. You don’t have to turn a 90 degree corner with your hoses. The trailer use to be set up with them stacked on the back. I’d have to basically walk the hoses down the street to get them to reel in when I was solo. If you’ve get a helper feeding you hoses it’s not a big deal.

Mine are at rail height, I’m 5’10" and it’s perfect for me.

Sure, I have been a firefighter for 20 years. Any firefighter will tell you that being openly exposed on the roadway is extremely dangerous. In this day and age of distracted driving the risk of being hit while working on the roadway is high. It does not matter how many cones you put out to warn people, even the cones can be a distraction to drivers. It is just best practice IMO to limit your roadway exposure as much as possible.

Can you post up photos of yours mounted? I’ve seen @squidskc’s mounted already.

@jzbreeland see what I mean about the reel being huge. That 200 in the model number denotes 200’ of capacity. There’s already 200’ on it.

How wide is your drum? From the picture, it looks like it might be an 18" drum, or even 20". The Titan/Hannay reels I’m looking at are specifically 12" wide drums, and I think both come in a wider 18" version as well, which really increases capacity.

That’s huuuuuuuge lol.

I regret nothing. Lol.

Must be 200’ capacity of 1.5" hose? lol

Hannay Electric reel is the only way to go…
So nice when Im done on a job push a button and reel in my 200’ of hose…
that is my tip of the day

It’s been really helpful on the bigger jobs. I just reeled on another 100’ of contractor hose for the townhomes since we were on hydrants and I don’t have a reel yet for my 200’ of kuritec. I just reel it right on top of this one. It’s all coming off the reel when we get to the job anyway.

So what’s the most reasonable length of water supply hose one should typically need? I’m starting from nothing here, so I’d rather buy a reel I could install 300’ on if I needed but only have 200’ on it versus buying a reel that maxes out at 200’ and landing some larger jobs and wishing I had a slightly larger reel.

200’ feet is more than sufficient 90% of the time. Most houses here I could get by with 100’ and have no problem. I keep 50’ of pressure hose and 50’ of flexzilla coiled in two buckets as insurance, but they’ve never come out even once.

I put 2 12” titans on mine. One has 175’ of 5/8 flexilla. The other has 200’ of hp Neptune hose. The middle hosetract has 200’ of Neptune also. I’ll tell you this the swivels on titans kinda suck. I replaced my supply line with a super swivel. The hose tract comes with super swivels. And I’ll replace the other titan with a super swivel eventually. What I’m getting at is the super swivel can’t be beat. Maybe look into hosetract reels as well. My pin broke off but I use a bolt to lock it into place and I’ve had to tighten some bolts on it. Other than that it functions as it should.

Thanks. And that’s exactly how I was considering rear mounting my reels. How do you like them on the back like that? That’s so weird, that’s literally exactly what I imagined in my head lol.

@PWProducts has the 12" Titan WITH Super Swivel for $191 and the 18" with Super Swivel for $200. Would that make these the best option?
