Belt box for pump? Upgrade from DD to Belt drive

So I was looking to upgrade my pump to a beltdrive. I have found some good deals on pump/unloaders, but I cannot seem to find anything about the actual belt to connect them with! I have searched google, this forums and all over the internet and there is NOTHING about hooking up these pumps. Does anyone have a link or know where I can buy the actually belt and box seperate from the pump itself? I can only find entire rigs with engine and all and I don’t need that…

Thank you for any help.

Edit: Did a little more looking up. Apparently I will need a clutch attached to the pump, engine block, and then a belt on those. I think I could put together a box myself, if anyone knows why that would be a bad idea please let me know.

Also was considering this pump: https://www.amazon.com/PRESSURE-WASHER-replaces-Interpump-WS202/dp/B0719M9KQH/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1532451500&sr=8-10&keywords=5.5+gpm+pressure+pump

I want to get an Udor but I will do that when I upgrade to a 24hp engine and with an 8gpm pump. For now I just want to wash a bit faster without breaking the bank and my current pump is a cheap POS.

Would also use a gear drive but I can’t find anything on that either…

Why not do a gear drive instead? Much easier than belt drive to do yourself.

I want to use belt drive if that AR pump is considered okay by yall since it seems to be a good deal. That being said I wouldn’t mind using a gear box but I cannot find anything about THOSE either! I don’t really understand how theres all these pressure washer pump dealers that sell belt drive pumps but no way whatsoever to connect it…

You can find tons of info on here about people upgrading from DD to gear drive but I’ve never heard of someone going to belt drive. Seems like a much bigger PITA when the plan is to get a 8gpm anyway.

Don’t need a clutch. Any V groove belt will work

I would go to a gear drive pump. I swapped out a DD 4gpm with a gear drive 5.5 and it was easy. Take off 4 bolts…put new pump on…set your unloader…done. Gear drive pumps run at about the same speed as belt drive pumps so it runs much cooler than a DD. Plus it sucks water like a belt drive so you can run a buffer tank. You can buy gear drive pumps fully plumbed with an unloader

I’d agree with those suggesting gear drives. Look at Udor. Call Udor to ask about pulley sizes if you’re dead set on belt drive. They have a chart online too.

Then call Dultmeier and price the pump you want. I’d bet it’s the same price as the AR or dang close for a better pump.

They can get you the pulleys and belts too.

After the cost of the pulleys and belts and belt tensioner (goes under pump) the gear drive is probably cheaper. And a lot easier to install.

I’d avoid that though. Take your unloader off your pump.

Thank you all for the input. I was looking at a belt drive because for the 5.5gpm I have found more options and they are a lower cost.

@squidskc unloaders are universally compatible, correct? If so then I will save a few dollars. Thanks again.

I should get around 2200-2500 psi based on what I get out of my current rig, this will be enough pressure for a 16" surface cleaner?

Sorry if my questions are answered elsewhere I missed.

Everyone has a preference. I like the belt drive mainly because it’s all ice used except for one poly chain gear box that was garbage. Gear drives appear to be a good option also. I’ve of my videos here show the tensioner set up I use

That’s definitely on my to do list to get an unloader block and a small whip line… but I’ve been procrastinating. Is the reason for this because the unloader can strip the threads of the pump when it kicks?

That and vibration. Vibration is bad on a pump
