Allflo air pump

What gives!?
I have a Allflo 1/2” air Pump. I am on my Third air valve in 8 months! First one replaced after 30 days, last one replaced about 1 month ago. Just the other day I’ve now got a small leak coming out of the exhaust. Regulator set to 85ish psi. Pump runs “ok” with a small nozzle. But when you put on a #30,40,50 or no nozzle at all, after about 1-2 min the pump seizes up.
Hoping to see if others have had the same issue, what they have done to fix it since the dealer is of no help to me. I was sold a lemon pump and had nothing but excuses.

Pump only has about 150 hours on it.

Do you have a good water separator?
Air pumps do not like moisture what so ever, some more then others.

I just bought a tsunami, my other one was letting in a lot of water. My pump would start making a horrible high pitch sound once it started letting too much water by.

You may have got a lemon, i dont know too much about the aodd pumps expect they dont like water on the air side. Post in the roof cleaning forum, a lot of them run these pumps and know a lot more on them.

Spoke with tsunami engineer. Basically I need a dryer for my air compressor. The air charge needs to cool down to like 0 degrees to remove all moisture and droplets.

A lot of it has to do with the pump consuming 15cfm of air every cycle. The psi goes from 60-85 every cycle. So it’s screwing up the air flow, not giving it enough time to cool down some.
Right now when I put my hand against my muffler, I’ve got small pieces of dry ice pelting my hand. Looks like very small rock salt.

If I were to “T” my air pump inlet with both hoses and drop stick the same length. Dropped one in my straight SH solution and other in my water tank would it pull 50/50 mix?

It should. Ive seen videos of guys doing it. I would say just try it and see, you can even put a metering valve on the SH side so you can drop the % when you dont want 50/50

I run all my air pumps with split manifolds. And have been for almost 10 years with no issues. You need to cut the center out of the intake manifold then tap and plug were you cut

does anyone have experience or knowledge on this pump? Flojet Pumps Air Operated Diaphragm Pump, Polypropylene: 1/2'' FPT, 5 GPM, Santoprene Diaphragm - Dultmeier Sales
I have my gas air compressor. looking for a nice little pump to use on roofs occasionally

Can you talk a little more on why you do that and what it accomplishes? Thank you!

Keep in mint the advertised flow rate is at open flow with no head. Most air pumps can’t flow half there rate once you add 200ft of hose. A 17gpm aodd pump will only flow about 6 gpm in real world use. Don’t expect much out of a pump that small

what air pump would you recommend for light use?

It allows me to fill my chem tank with straight SH . My Injectors pull from the same tank as my roof pump . This way I don’t need separate tanks for either. It also allows me to double the amount of roof mix I can carry pet load . I fill a 225 gallon tank with straight SH every morning . Since the pump pulls half from my chem tank and half from my buffer tank I’m able to carry 450 gallons of roof mix so I can make it through the day without having to refil . I do the same thing with my OX tank for rust removal. Short answer is it simplifies things.

Do you have a Hazmat endorsement on a CDL?

Be careful hauling more then 100 gallons of SH.

Big enough fine to put you out of business

For light use I would just get a 12 volt system. But since you already have a compressor and I don’t like buying thing I know are going to fail I would get a 1/2 all-flo . The 3/8 is Cheaper but it’s not a great pump.

No endorsement. They don’t mess with us much down here. Other than the snake oil salesmen in Orlando calling DOT on his competitors. I was advised by the FL DOT. That I would likely get more fines with a hazmat than without one . 90 percent of all fines written with the endorsement are for in proper logs. It’s just a risk I’ve learned to except. Only I drive this truck. My other truck only has a 100 gallon tank on it. I wouldn’t put that risk on an employee.

the allflo exceeds my budget :frowning:

Are their any alternatives that are compatible with my 14 cfm gas compressor

Not busting you…we all skirt and break rules though most wont admit it.

2 months ago I got stopped by commercial police and was probably 4K over weight. 700 gallons of water in a C3500. Tanks were so full that the cop thought they were empty. Or he gave me a break. Either way, I left from the stop with no tickets and about 12 warnings lol. He did make me get a commercial GVW 26,000 lb license plate though and told me he’d pull me over next time he saw me if I didn’t have them. A week later looked in my mirror and he was right behind me… pulled up next to me and gave me a thumbs up. $600 a year X 2 trucks. Sucks but o well
